Toshiba new user reporting! I bought mine at H.O.N in Penang. Model M200-E413, free additional 512mb, 2 years warranty (1 year international and 1 year local warranty) and Swiss travel bag.

Anyone know where I can get the clear laptop lid cover proctective film in Butterworth (prefer) or Penang island? Thanks!

Snapball

Added on September 24, 2007, 10:56 pmHi Sifu, my laptop screen brightness is too bright for my eye so I use the function key f6 to adjust the brightness from level 8 to level 4 but everytime when I restart or turn on the laptop, the brightness will be back to level 8. How can I set the brightness so it will stay there forever? Thanks!

this i think you ask eddy better.....btw the snapball is some kind of thing which elevates the laptop only right?
*

Yes! It reduce heat from building under the notebook as well. When I use the laptop at home, I will removed the battery so now there is a big hole there and no place for me to stick the snapball. hmm.gif

click on the battery icon at sys tray once, then pop out a menu.
then choose more power option, at there u can set few power plans. u may choose diff profile for diff brightness of the screen, display turn off time...
alternatively, go to control panel>Hardware and sound>Power option. same thing can be done there.

I got it done last night! Thanks anyway! wink.gif

yup ... vista is not to everyone's liking ... plus software compatibility is not very good ...
u can downgrade to xp ... u can get the drivers from pc.toshiba-asia.com

Yeah, Vista is slow compare with XP. I have a desktop with Pentium 4, 1.8ghz processor using windows XP pro. I can feel that it is faster than my new laptop! Will consider to downgrade as well. I think I might upgrade my laptop ram from 1ghz to 2ghz. Probably it will improved the speed kua.

Anyone here use a transparent cover protective film on their laptop? I got the problem here where the bubbles seem appear on the surface very obviously and looks damn ugly. I think the reason why there is so many bubbles because of the black gloss surface finishing so the air easily trap inside the film and cause bubbles. If the surface is matte finishing then it is ok. I think I should find a thicker film.

I'm thinking to upgrade my ram from 1gb to 2gb. After upgrade, will it really improve the speed of my laptop? I'm using Vista OS. Nowadays the ram is very cheap, only RM125 for 1gb Kingston DDR2 KVR667 SODIMM! Thanks!

I just realized that my laptop is using two 512mb ram, means no more slot to add in another ram! sad.gif The only way is to replace both 512mb ram with single 2gb ram. The price for 2gb is damn expensive RM425 shocking.gif If I get two 1 gb is much cheaper, only RM250. Why the price for 2gb is so expensive? Will my laptop warranty be affected if I upgrade my ram? I means I buy and install myself?

If you stay far away from Singapore then better get it locally else your warranty claims can be troublesome.

Guys, I have create a recovery disc and backup all the files from Tosapins folder by copying them to a DVD. Any other files that I need to back up? If one day I have to format the hard disk, I only use this dvd to reinstall vista and all the driver, right? Thanks.

nope ... its vista ... if u downgrade to xp there is no such problems ...

wait till toshiba comes out with an update for the webcam software ...

the demo units i have on display at my place also have these problem sometimes ...

there is a new webcam driver on the toshiba website ...

go and check it out guys ...

Why my laptop Tosapins folder do not have a webcam driver, only got Chicony camera assistant software nia. In the toshiba website, I found Satellite M200 Vista: Webcam Driver dated 27/8/07 and camera assistant software driver for XP. So I only download the webcam driver (3 parts) dated 27/8/07 for Vista nia, right? Just now I went to Device manager, imaging devices, USB2.0 PC Camera and click on the Update driver and Search automatically for updated driver software. After few minutes, it pop up this message...
"The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. Chicony USB 2.0 camera"
I check the driver date is 9/1/07 but in the Toshiba website is 27/8/07. Is it advisable to download the 3 parts driver and manually install in my laptop? Thanks!

I wonder what is in the new upgrades? I just wonder where they keep their documentation for the upgrades?
