hi guys, i have a Toshiba M30. Lately i think i hear some cracking sound in my harmon/kardon left speaker when there is bass. Anyone know what could the problem? If it has to be replaced, how much will it cost? I called teledynamics in glenmarie twice and i cant get to the dept i want. Another thing is my CPU fan keeps running non stop. I suspect dust is stuck. Any possible way to DIY? Besides these minor stuffs, Toshiba rocks! Hope someone can help me out. Thanks. QUOTE(hwachong @ Oct 5 2008, 08:56 PM) hey, I didn't know that there's someone out there having the same toshiba laptop model as me. M30 is ancient and I'm still using it fine. Hinge a but loose. Speakers the same problem and the battery can't really hold anymore. Have been using this machine for the past 5-6 yrs. If possible, I suggest going down to teledynamics. Going to get a Dell Studio 15 soon. I'm worried teledynamics will overprice me, thats why i need to know the price first. Btw, M30 only came out in 2004 if i am not mistaken. My model is 3.5 yrs to date. Aren't u going to repair your speakers? Battery i agree, mine also died after 1 yr. Just upgrade the ram and hdd, should be fine. I did that, my laptop is very smooth now.

QUOTE(hwachong @ Oct 6 2008, 10:32 AM) M30 been around since late 2003. I'm now using headphones. I think it will cause a bomb to repair the speaker. I went to teledynamics to have a checkup last year, when mine BSOD. Harddisk failure, hinge loosen etc. The prices they quote are ridiculous. Since my warranty is way over, I purchase a new HD outside. Been working fine since then. I read somewhere it should not cost more than Rm100 for both pair of speakers, but thats through the internet. Yup, their prices are mad, i also purchased the rams and hdd outside. I think yours should be the first few models of M30. What are your specs and the price when u bought it?

QUOTE(hwachong @ Oct 6 2008, 04:57 PM) I bought it at around RM6-7k. At tt time, laptop wasn't a commodity, but it's well worth every penny. Not many problems out from it. 512mb RAM, 1.5 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200. v noob in this era. haha Same, mine was around the same price too! Yup, it's a very good model. Nice screen, good speakers, simple yet classy. Mine is 1.6GHz. Actually, u can't say noob in this era. You can upgrade ram to 2GB, hdd to 250GB. Good enough. More than adequate for normal use.
