I'm planning to buy the Toshiba satelite R10. Can you please advice me on how to get the best price for this tablet. Does anyone know how much is it to upgrade the battery to a 9 or 12 cell one and how much does an extra one cost? Another thing I would like to know is how much would it be to add on a graphic card. I would like a graphic card that would allow me to play most games smoothly with AA and AF.

I went to Toshibas's showroom in Shah Alam and I have some advice for those who wish to buy Toshiba laptops. First, make an appointment with a salesman its very easy, just phone them up and tell them when you are coming. they will give you the contact number of the salesman. phone the salesman and tell him what model you want to check out and what specifically you want to see. I'm telling you this because when I went there the salesman was completely blank and didn't know how to demonstrate what I wanted to see.

About the CSV screens, I think they suck. The viewing angles are bad, just little out and the picture looks funny. The colours and contrast aren't any better than the normal screens. worst still, the screen is too glossy, it look like a mirror. The reflection makes it very hard to see what's on the screen. I prefer my R1O's matte screen, it's much better

last of all, wait for the pc fair, the prices are much better. I was lucky the manager gave me the PC fair price. RM 600 discount, double ram plus 2 years international warranty. the salesperson also said that I can get PC fair price even if I go to Toshiba Shah Alam during the PC fair

I love teledynamics. Their service is top class. Went to get my new speakers installed today. At the guardhouse, i was required to give them some form of ID and they would give me a visitor pass. They accepted my student ID. The second time when i went in, i gave my IC but they asked me if i have another ID like driver's license cause tey told me giving IC not safe. Wow.

The technician did my speaker installation in two hours. Mines the R10, suppose to be complicated to dismantle bla bla. Anyway the staff at the service centre all very knowledgeable one. Common terms all no prob for them. Only super techinical stuff they need to call the technician. Polite and friendly.

Then i went to browse for a new lappy. They salesgirl also very polite and nice. And also din try to be too clever. I asked her a very technical question. So she know she dunno, so tell me i need to speak to the technical stuff. Not like other place, they bla bla nonsense to you or fumble through the manual infront of you.

I just got Toshiba L40 without OS and now I realized I can't use XP right away. Read up a little and found out I need to slip stream the SATA drivers. However, I am not sure exactly which drives I need to slip stream as there is none in toshiba's website and I am not sure what chipset this model is using. Can anyone help me out?

Sometimes, teledynamics, the distributor of Toshiba laptops in Malaysia will put their promotion adds in the papers. You can visit teledynamics and download the advert which display the prices of some of their laptops.

Some reseller are authorized to give extended warranty for laptops provided they have been authorized to do so by teledynamics. Do check with them whether they extended warranty is given by their shop or by teledynamics.

During promotions, normally it will apply for all authorized resellers. So whether you buy it from teledynamics showroom, pc fair or a shop, you should be entitled to the same promotion advertised in the newspapers. However, it is not true for all resellers. It depends what agreement they have with teledynamics.

Add me to this list of Toshiba owners, I have a M200-P434.

Bought it in february 2008, its been working all fine and dandy right up until the last few days, when it overheated excessively.

Using speedfan to check the internal temperatures, my hard disk was around 56celcius (which i gather is quite high), and my both ACPI temperatures were about 70 to 85 degrees. Core temps were between 43-45celcius. This was a few days back

10 minutes later it shutdown, and I was quite worried, but after it cooled down I was able to turn it on just fine, but since that episode, my temperature is on the high side.

I do not have an aircon where i use this laptop, but I have a Notepal cooler which i put underneath it, and also an external fan to take out air from teh vent, and sometimes I use this fan to blow air underneath the laptop. This has kept it "cool" for the last 6 months, except the last few days, where it just went ballistic.

any ideas? (im thinkin it could be dust, clogged heatsink..)

It's either your notebook fan has busted or there is alot of dust in your computer restricting airflow. Take it back to the service center and ask them to clean it for you.

Anyone using Portege M800 or M900?

I'm thinking about buying of them but I need some opinions before deciding.
