it was brand new with 1 yr limited warranty in US ... I guess it should be fine without the remaining 8 months warranty in malaysia

I was thinking to buy some spare parts from ebay ... but I didn't expect broken notebook can sell 300-400USD in ebay ... holy smoke .... hopefully nothing broken in the end ... else will need to request help from colleague to grab it from ebay and bring it back to me sweat.gif

guess what ... i could have get lenovo idealpad Y530 with greater spec at ~630 USD after tax + Free Shipping

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 1GHz 3MB ) thumbup.gif
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32 ... 3G max ram sad.gif )

all the lappies does not come with a windows cd anymore ...

instead ... most manufacturers have the recovery built into the HDD and has an option to create a recovery disc ...

this disc contains all the windows, drivers and preloaded softwares that came with the lappy ...

the recovery  disc will reformat ur lappy to the state like how u bought it when it was brand new ...

but it will delete everything so i suggest u guys do a back up b4 doing a recovery ...
*
ya ... it will format the HDD and reinstall everything ....

I messed up my vista 64 OS on 1st day i got my notebook when I try to partition my hardisk (disk management failed to work properly for unknown reason, 3rd party partition software malfunctioning on 64 bit OS)

end up I managed to partition my HDD during recovery process and it took a good 2 hours recovery process to re-install all the toshiba OEM software(junk) ... and reinstall my softwares again ... DUH doh.gif

thats all my "awesome" 1st day breakdown & recovery story ... sweat.gif blush.gif
