i think it's depend for what you need or use for? Dell's after sales service is good...... their onsite service respondance quite well. Few of my frens own dell for 3 to 4 yrs and no prob at all I THINK high end acer laptop actualy good (JUST MY OPinion)
I have two toshiba laptop at the moment....... First one bought it 6 yrs ago in usa.....until now no prob although performance is slightly dropping 2nd one just bought it 3 weeks ago..... i think quite good and hope it will last long......
Above is just my comments and opinions.......

I think it's better for you to choose the brand that got service center near the place you are visiting in UK ............ I think if you like Toshiba....there is no harm for you to get it although the spec may not as good as DELL or Acer or COmpaq (with same amount of money).....try to check at shop toshiba in midvalley..... i think their price quite okie.

QUOTE(rg470 @ Aug 20 2006, 02:53 PM) Well, I'm also a M40 user here, same model as yours. My battery lasts me at least 2 hours. Try not to over charge the battery. If you want a better battery, toshiba does have a 12 cell battery for it, but that doesn't come cheap, at least around RM600~700. my toshiba L100 also actualy last about 1.30 hours and I just bought it 6 weeks ago but so far quite satisfy with their performance as well. THx. U cant adjust it in BIOS?..... my toshiba lappie is ATI which i can adjust directly from BIOS.... In some case, some lappie need to have certain amont of RAM to adjust GMA to 128.... e.g. like 512MB of ram.... Just my opinion ya......Anyone plz correct me if i wrong
