To invite your friends:
- add their emails in Circles
- share a post (upper right hand corner) with them
- hover the cursor over the circle name and tick the checkbox "notify about this post"
- tick the checkbox "Also email ?? person not yet using Google+"

initial impression... + will probably fail just like Google's earlier attempts at 'social networking'... Google's simplistic interface might just confuse newbies...
