i think Google sent the invitations to those who really use their products.. Here's what i have:
1. gmail (of course)
2. chrome
3. picasa
4. full details in google profile
5. google contacts
6. google buzz
7. google calendar
8. android (of course)
9. google docs
10. google reader
11. youtube account
Some how, i think Google opens the invitations to those who really use their products.. thats only my wild guess
