if possible u should avoid electrolytic caps for output coupling. if the value allowed, better to use non polarised poly caps

my pcm2704 dac..wima 6.8uf mkp10 as output coupling, sanyo oscon for supply filtering. yellow caps is elna.

the wima mkp give a warm mid range and great vocal..it help tame the high of bright speaker.

6.8uf is not enough to directly drive a headphone, low frequency will be cut off due to the impedance

What is RS?

Is there any reference site that you can provide? hmm, I'm curious in wanting to learn the reasons why we should avoid the usual electrolytic caps.

and what do you mean by if the value allows? hmm  hmm.gif

read here on how to choose a output coupling caps value and calculator

Holy shit, I read the whole article but still don't understand what is it o_o....

btw, I'm using alessandro ms1i now + pcm2704 (specifically uct27m), any idea how to erm.. calculate?

u must first find out the input impedance of your headphone. if you are driving headphone directly u wont be able to use non electrolytic caps anyway..the value are too big for any poly caps. the big poly caps is like 10uf max which cost a bomb.

im running the pcm2704 bypassed without caps connecting to edifier c3. i find the high sound more detail this way. the dc offset is too small to be worried of.

So headphones require bigger uf right? how does the microfarad affect the sound actually?
*
the capacitor characteristic affect the sound...

output coupling caps value affect the low frequency respone..

headphone usually 32 ohm will require much larger caps..so your only choice is electrolytic.
