Hello, I'm still an amateur audiophile here and currently a proud owner of a grado sr325is and akg k701. 80% of the time i listen music from my pc via Asus Essence STX sound card.

i just received my hifiman he-500 and found that the music that came out sounds 'anemic' and lacks the energy even though the bass is definitely awesome.

i read through some audiophile forums on the internet that even though hifiman he500 is easier to drive, it still needs a dedicated amp while some other forums say that any amp would do great.

for the time being im considering of getting a dedicated amp and using my essence stx as the DAC but it's no use to get an amp just to make it sound louder.

my budget is around 800 (probably up to rm1000 if its really worth it)

any help/ ideas?

Anyone ever tried the e09k+e17 combo? Is it a significant upgrade from jus an e17? If yes I'll get the e17 first and save up for e09k. If no, any desktop dac+amp recommendation for ad900x?

Support for S/PDIF In/Out
Support for CD In
65% for Movie, especially for the action movie which contain a lot of boom scene. 
25% for Music, MP3 320kbps song, mostly K-Pop song.
10% Game, Dota 2 and some other game like Resident Evil 5/6.
1) Asus Xonar DX
2) CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI XTREME AUDIO PCI SOUND CARD (SB0790)
2) Creative Audigy2 ZS
Don't know which one to choose  But the way, is the difference will be large with these sound cards for my Edifier C3 or just slightly improve?

hmm, from PC digital signal = 100% clean, right?

Then DAC convert to analog becomes not so clean if not good DAC?

Of course I understand some tracks even claim to be "LOSELESS", after some comparison it may not be, or even lose to MP3, source is kinda tricky though, coz we may not know the processes gone thorough to come out as "SOURCE"

I think DAC/AMP = money sucker
and SPEAKERS/HEADPHONES = money worth value
