Anybody knows what kind of electrostatic amps that can drive the Stax 009?

Hey guys, just a quick question here.

Just got a Hippo CriCri+ from Jaben (first time owning dac/amp). After plugging it in and playing some songs for about ~30minutes, the unit becomes quite warm / lukewarm to the touch. Is this normal?

I read from somewhere (NuForce FAQ, specifically) that it might be caused by lack of power from the USB port? Hope it's not the case lol.

opamp rolling to your likings just like CMOY amp, and try tube rolling also can be loads of fun.... functionality wise its like more than u can bargain for....

beside if u can get it 2nd hand u dont have even to break your piggy bank also...

one thing i love about D1 amp is u can use the SS amp or u can feed the pre-tube amp to your SS amp. just the case u need to find another amp so u can use the pre-tube amp. in my case i use stepdance for that matter.... sounds heavenly....

and the D1 amp itself is no slouch either...

tube and opamp i got it at ebay. thou opamp shouldnt be hard enough for u to get over here also...

hahaha bro stepdance is portable amp (in case u didnt know) but with proper power (im using 9v or 12v thou if u can u could go for 15v for its maximum power) i would suggest u to get a proper SS desktop amp... then u'll be surprise how it can shine the SS amp and adding that lushness of tube sounding... u have both worlds lol...

hd650+symphonica cable+selvin prototype amp = WOW!

I want a "be all, end all" setup. To the point that I don't have to keep looking at HeadFi and keep wondering how X headphones would sound on Y amp. On HeadFi, they call it the Endgame Setup. No more wondering.

My only worry I that my source might not be good enough for the Stax combo.

Until that "couple of years" come, I just want to be happy with the Stax combo setup. One question, does the source matters? Would lossless running from optical on MacMini do the Stax combo justice?

i was contemplating whether to save up to get a portable or a dedicated amp to pair up with the d1
since i do bring my beyer to work on weekend, just using my 3gs with broken jacks and no lod/amp
the burson is just too far saw someone selling the corda concerto though i wonder how it sounds

selvin's amp were built from scratch if im not mistaken. maybe copy some DIY amps schematic but added some of his/his partner's own twist of formulas.... not sure.. but its really good.

ur beyer is 32ohm should not be a problem if u buy fiio amp... or better still the CMOY amp. just buy LOD and u will be amazed of what u have been missing lol!

corda concerto is analytical if i heard it correctly.... (i did test it briefly) but got wide soundstage just like stepdance.

either portable or dedicated amp, one thing for sure is both will give u the benefit of giving the extra umph for ur music.


then again budget also need to be take into consideration....
