cayin c5 doesnt looks tight budget and desktop amp to me  biggrin.gif but what is the sound signature like? so can it be charged while using? becos like e11 cant, that's a problem for me..
*
Missed the part that you need a desktop amp tongue.gif Honestly if you're looking for desktop amp, might as well as get a new DAC/AMP combo. smile.gif
Anyway for the Cayin C4 sound signature, airy and detailed, very transparent and a hint of 3D like spaciousness. Better than E12/E18. You could use it while charging but be noted of the increased heat during that. smile.gif

which one better?get aune t1 or cayin c5.want to pair it with superlux hd evo.currently have ud110 n red soundmagic iem
*
If you would like to compare the AMP section entirely, definitely the Cayin C5. Aune T1 is a DAC/AMP at which the tube is being used in DAC only, you wouldn't want to use your UD110 with it. smile.gif

What headphone you're using with your Fiio E07k? It might be that you're overestimating your E07k, did you a/b compare with your computer too? (Same song and headphone)

which one better

If you plan to upgrade your DAC soon, or stress portability more. Definitely the C5. The UD110 will bottleneck the C5 blush.gif
Aune T1 is like a whole package, if soon you want to upgrade, you need to change whole thing.

Another thing to be consider is to get a C5 first, then Aune T1 for home listening (Aune T1 DAC -> C5 AMP) biggrin.gif

Greeting to all LYN audiophile member  notworthy.gif

I'd just bought a Shure srh144, noticed lacks of mid & low freq details.
I'm thinking wanna add in head amp to drive this headphone for better sound.

Is it possible to get a decent headamp around RM200?  biggrin.gif

Example something like these? > http://www.mudah.my/Topping+TP21+2X25w+Cla...er-31673353.htm

Following SRH144 spec below :

Sensitivity : 96 dB SPL/mW
lmpedance  : 34 Ohms
Frequency Range : 30 Hz–20 kHz

My source mainly smartphones & pc desktop.

Thanks!  thumbup.gif
*
I tried the topping myself, it has audible distortion that i don't like at all. Nothing can change your sound signature in a large scale unless you change the entire headphone. Never expect large improvement over DAC/AMP, cables, plugs.
Do you have a DAC beforehand you getting yourself an AMP? smile.gif

Hey guys, can recommend me a decent portable DAC for headphones and
2.1 speakers system? My budget is below $200.

Thanks.

I just got my AKG k7xx a few days ago. Will I benefit from using a DAC?

So far the volume is loud enough but I wonder if the sound will improve if I use a DAC.

Can you guys recommend one under 400rm?

thanks
*
AKG K7xx series is sort of power hungry, but it needs the correct DAC/AMP combo to let it sings. thumbup.gif

Hi guys, I have just bought ATH-IM02 and looking for 1 portable dac+amp combi.
Is there any good one which is around price range of RM 500 ?

I have read about E18 think it is not bad, are there any more options?
*
IM02 is quite picky for dac/amp pairing, be sure you can try them first out before you buy. smile.gif

Hey guys, need your opinions.
Am using laptop with HP150 and AT IM02.
Should i get the dacport with 1 ohm AND LX mod?
or only the 1ohm mod?
or no mod?

refer to MD link: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/centrance-dacport-dac-amp
*
HP150 has less sensitive and rather medium impedance, your IM02 has low impedance and medium-high sensitivity.
I don't recommend you getting the DACport, its ok for your HP150 use case but for the IM02, <1ohm is recommended else the sound quality will be affected and there will be distortion due to the electronic damping issue.
LX mod? It's an version of DACport, by removing the volume control and providing line stage output to your amp, if you have already an amp and gonna connect your DACport LX with it, go for it.

I don't wholeheartedly recommend the DACport just because of your IM02, even with 1ohm mod. tongue.gif

Equipment : Havi B3 Pro 1 (Dual Dynamic Driver /Impedance:32ohms )
Requirement : Had to be easy to lug around.
Budget : <200  / <150

Not too critical about specs. I need it to be efficient & does was it is meant to do.

I use a Topping NX1 + UD120 via OTG for my Havi, damn damn good. thumbup.gif
You can try to look around for a used UD100/110 either.

Guys, need your recommendation here since my old headphone amp suddenly died.

Source : Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium (up to 250 ohm but meh)

Headphone: Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro (250 ohm)

Headphone Amp (the broken one) : GoVibe Peak

---

I am not sure either to buy another GoVibe Peak or not (not sure either it is still exist in the market or not) or upgrade to the better one.

Sonic preference : Transparent

Budget : Less than 1k. The cheaper the better wink.gif

Thanks guys happy.gif

Oops. your reply came late. already placed the order. We'll see how it goes.

Side note: any dac/amp to recommend that suits the 2 phones i have?
*
Hardly any DAC/AMP combo, unless you go separately. on the side note, did you get yourself LX version? if that case, you would want to get an amp.

Thanks psychoactive.

I just bought Cayin C5.

Definitely an upgrade over GoVibe Peak.

This little monster has no problem to drive 250 ohm can. At high gain setting, my ears can only manage to listen at 5/9 setting (where source is set at 50%). Hard to believe it is a portable headphone amp.

Love the soundstage and instrument separation.

Definitely a worthy upgrade.
*
You're welcome. Yes, at first i was skeptical about it too, after listening to it, I was astonished how good it is, not to tell the price/performance ratio too. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Chyan @ Apr 18 2015, 05:16 PM)
Seems like a good match for me too! Is there any amp/dac combo within the price range?
*
Fiio E07K (a little more budget), but it doesn't have good synergy as the NX-1 does. Or maybe you can try to raise the budget for a little (300?), it's worth any penny to get a better amp for your Havi. (I have ran my havi thru Yulong D200 before) thumbup.gif
Or another alternative way is, just get the UD130, and use software volume control.

Seriously I'm a BIG "0" on this DAC/AMP thingy, having a IPOd Touch + Audio Technica SONIC FUEL ATH-CKX9 & A SOLID BASE Headphone ATH-WS55X is it good enough? can I improve it further?

Even my brother said.."Get a DAC/AMP la"

Thanks all the sifu here.
*
From what you got, it's not day-night significant but definitely you can listen to the audible difference. Sounds get clearer, smoother, treble extends better and bass get deeper. You can always try to play with the lower end budget models.
If you're getting an AMP, I recommend you get a line out adapter, and to connect your iPod touch to the AMP. thumbup.gif
DAC/AMP combo for apple device costs a lot. (proprietary) Like the Fostex HP-P1 i'm selling. laugh.gif

IC. Since i'm always on the move, was thinking to get something more portable.

I can see those DAC/AMP combo price is a killer, but than why going for something lower but at the end of the day...change again. RM500-800 maybe I can still dig it out.

Wait...is my budget on the lower end?
*
Of course that I didn't know your budget since you didn't state it. tongue.gif IMO, everything > 500 is considered as low-mid, and >1000 is around the mid-high part. That's a quite medium budget. If you would like something more portable (lets say a DAC/AMP combo FOR apple devices), it's easily can go over >1k over the price. e.g. Centrance Hifi-M8, Sony PHA-1, PHA-2, V-MODA Verza and more.
On the other hand, I'm considering letting go my HP-P1 <1k, you want it? blush.gif

Since both of my headphones are full size headphone, I'd prefer a desktop amp with built in battery. However, it would be good if the amp is more portable. HAHA dilemma. can u suggest me for both portable and desktop amp?

Desktop - O2 (save abit)
Portable - Caiyin C5 (extend abit)

I have the same question as the guy above. How big of a difference would I have if I use a good DAC or amp.
Also, what if I just want something not so high end? just a simple usb DAC for the laptop or phone etc, will there be a difference in sound quality?
*
Think of it as a analogy, lets take car as example, DAC is your engine, AMP is the electronic components which controls the whole car in conjunction with it in work, convert power into performance.

Imagine if you're implanting a lousy engine into a Ferrari, it will bottleneck the components, and vice versa.
It's better to balance it in term of performance and SQ for both DAC and AMP.
