I came across this and thought I'd share it here. It's super cheap and a good deal for beginners looking for a (almost) complete set up.

it has been there all along, just I find it not intriguing to snap and pay for it, the hm901 combo, now that's something worthy

Hi sifus,
Please do help to recommend.

Source : desktop, iphone, ak100, md player (sony, forgotten the model), gaming devices (psv, ps3)
Genre of music : classical, jazz, pop
Equipment : se525, UE900 and beyer t1 (coming soon, waiting for re-cabling to be done)
Requirement : bass not to be too punchy but need to have volume, tremble needs to be clear and natural.
Budget : below 5k per each system for dac and amp. Individual system if possible, and if i can save money and get good audio reproduction, that would be perfect smile.gif

Thinking of CEntrance mini DAC but do not know how's the performance. Any ideas on it?

Thank you

im pretty new to this, i just got myself a dt880 pro 250 ohm, using it on desktop ONLY,

i was under the impression that this headphone needs a soundcard/ amplifier to drive it fully, any recommendations ?

the ipod if you want dac + amp, needs a line out dock
G2 you need a USB OTG connector too, and UAPP for all dac amps to work

if you have that 2 connectors, then dac+amp is into discussion, so ask him if he has them LOD or USB OTG or not

Source : self assembled desktop PC, motherboard ASUS P8H67, i5-2500k

Requirement : not sure
Budget : below 1k ringgit
Type : dont really matter whether its portable / desktop

like i said im new to this so i dont really know what to expect, just want to optimize the headphone i just bought. I was told that using an amp / dac would make the headphone sound better, so im trying to figure out what to get.

He's planning to get Fiio E17 and probably grab Fiio LOD cable as well but not sure if that is a good choice for somewhat overkill.

Yeah he have both OTG and UAPP for his G2.

E17 is not at all a overkill, more like a "starter pack"

Starter pack even for his current earphone? Not including future upgrade. hmm.gif

What's your suggestion? Go for the E17?

Can try Aune's new product, X1 pro.
It is a dac + headphone + Pre-amp, has usb/ optical/ coaxial input. Support DSD.
The quality of dac is very strong, and the build in amp is also quite good. I've compared it with Fiio E12 diy (with stock opm), driving HD600 and K601. E12 has wider sound stage, sparkling treble and more details, but X1 pro's build in amp has warmer and more musical sound signature.

Another choice is Matrix M-stage hpa-2 usb (2014 version). It is a dac+amp, but more to amp.
If you want to drive DT880, can also try this model. The amp is very powerful, quite suitable for high impedance headphone such as DT880.

Beyerdynamic T1 is very very difficult to drive well. I will suggest you to go for a dac with powerful headphone amp.
Can consider Audio-GD products, such as NFB27 and Reference 10.32, their build in amp is very strong:
6000MW / 50 ohm
3500MW / 100 ohm
1200MW / 300 ohm
600 MW / 600 ohm

NFB27 is using E9018 dac chip. Reference 10.32 is using PCM1704UK.
PCM1704UK has already stopped production, but the sound quality is really amazing.
