do note that e17 + e09k will cost u a fortune, but can be portable or home docked

Approaching a thousand if im not mistaken. I'm alright with the budget but am i worthy enough or whether my ears are trained enough, i highly doubt it. Hence, start from small then slowly work my way up. I guess that's the best way to grow in this type of hobby.

Btw, just a question. I understood the performance of DAC and amplifier in the music section where it is most certain that it will outperform soundcard anytime. What about its performance on movies, gaming and etc? If its the wrong question or wrong section to ask, feel free to 'warn' me. laugh.gif The reason why i want to ask as such because i want to value its overall performance as a whole.

in movies, it will perform much better than of soundcards, sound card only perform on one advantage, 5.1 sound effect and maybe also THX etc etc, SQ wise is a bust

e11 should be around rm300 or less, gives a very sufficient mid and sub for it's class, using battery means a good mean of on the go music

it will be nice if you have LOD, provides cleaner sound

Hi guys, I am very new to this section. Basically i have been reading up articles on the web for the past few days, but my knowledge for high quality audio equipment is still very rudimentary. Thus I hope gurus here can give me some advice and recommendations.

Basically I own an Edifier S330 for the past 2 years. I was initially quite satisfied with its performance when playing normal R&B and other pop songs. However, recently I started to have strong interest in Jazz and classical music, and all of sudden I find the sound of my speakers lacking. Perhaps not "rich" enough is the word. Anyhow below is the brief details of my audio source:

Music format: MP3 320kbps and some FLAC
Player: foobar2000
Sound card: Creative SB X-fi Fatal1ty (older PCI version)
Speakers: Edifier S330

Questions:

1. Will adding an external DAC improve the sound quality tremendously?

2. Which DAC is recommended? Budget around RM500 (thinking of Fiio E10 since many good reviews)

3. Should I upgrade my speakers instead (to maybe Aego M)? (sorry if this is the wrong section to ask)

Thanks and best regards.

Sifus, what is the recommended way to improve sound on my current setup? I am using HK Soundsticks III running direct into my laptop internal soundcard. If external hardware is required, what are some of the recommended ones?

Don't really know what's a good budget coz never buy before... How much is the E09K / E9?

Is this a hit or miss in that I can only rely on reviews? Is there any place that I can test the amp, preferably with my setup... ie Soundsticks or equivalent speakers.

Hello, I'm looking for a DAC recommendation to replace my onboard sound card system.

I have my Alessandro MS-1i and Phonak PFE 232, pairing with my digizoid zo2 amp.

What do you suggest? icon_question.gif

Currently, your speakers seems to be the limiting factor sweat.gif The FiiO E10 will only improve slightly. Go for the Harman Kardon Sound Stick III or the Aego M first nod.gif

What you really need is an external DAC/Amp, the FiiO E10 nod.gif

If you got the budget, can try out the Arcam rPac. Retails around RM 1k, but sure worth it drool.gif
It's a headphone DAC/amp, you can drop by TEG showroom in Jaya One to try it out. Hi-Fi Quality sound. brows.gif

Hi guys, recently I've just bought this USB DAC to try it out.
I'm totally new to these audio things, but I wanna learn more about them.
I wanted to buy a entry level amp for the headphones I'm going to buy soon (probably superlux due to budget and also I'm just a beginner)
So I have 2 questions, which is:
1. which amp will perform decent enough for my budget (RM 200-300)
2. which superlux headphones is for casual users (music oriented)

Thanks! notworthy.gif

Hmm....for warm sound and bass boost ...

I think hippo cricri will be your ideal choice...

But for advice.....have a try on it at the headphone stores around to look for your suitable amps...
