wonder if any of you heard about stem cell? I am planning a child now, wanna give the best to my kid, recently just saw some articles regarding cord blood stem cells, any of you doin that now? I have researched it and planning to store my baby's stem cell with Cellsafe international, it's like a bio-insurance for the kid and whole family, heard that the cord blood can save my child's life since the cord blood stem cells can treat over 75 blood-related and other disorders..well i think this kinda thing is rather new in Malaysia, not many of us aware of this >< anyway to those goin-to-be moms, you may check out more info about this, hope it helps smile.gif

4yrs ago when I conceived my child, I am also planning to store this.
Because that time already got plenty of celebrity and some of my frens doing it.

But so happen during that duration, there is news articles about the health ministry calling all the stemcell companies to come forward for proper registration, as they have not done the proper verification with the government. Scary.. they can do business without going thru the proper verification. That create doubts on the reliability already.

And when I check with the company policy, they mention that they won't responsible if the storage get polluted.. even we pay big $ on the service. Further checking found out that they claim the bloodcell be able to cure many sickness but only a few disease have proven record.
Due to so many doubt at that time, I was thinking to opt for donation bank (oversea have this, similar to blood bank). But unfortunately Malaysia don't have this. So.. in the end we don't store it because was scare $ drained as we are not richy rich.

But that was 4-years ago... not sure the doubt have been officially clear now.

Added on June 29, 2011, 12:22 pmheheeh..i think we are getting off topic here tongue.gif

I did a research on this...and i think that these stem cell companies are sort of milking our money on our fears. Like cc980024 said, i'd prefer if the govt has a stem cell bank (like some other overseas country).
