for those who collected the pen rod from me. Here's some extra advise from the email:
" A preventative measure to keep the guides strong is if you open them up & run a small bead/line or dab of glue on the bottom/underside of each guide & the tip & let them dry over night while the rod is extended, it will assure a stronger seal & longer life of the guides. Do not be afraid to get glue INSIDE of the eyelets because you can always take a hot sewing needle & hold them with pliers & put it over an open flame till the pin or needle is red hot & pass it through the center of the guide the day after you glue the guides & it will make a clean hole through the center & strengthen your guides, especially the tip"

Added on July 9, 2012, 1:26 pmAm also quite surprised with the line capacity... with the amount of line I put in, feels like larger than a standard 500 size nearer to a 1000 size i think..

Just that no infinite anti-reverse... and feels very plasticky... have also tried in on other standard rods (except for my 5ft cherrywood as the reel seat design different) and still fits even with the smaller reel seat handle.

So planning to get a Tica Cetus and modify it to fit the rod... "when/if" the reel breaks smile.gif

I've lost more than RM100 worth of lures due to snags, fg knot failure and broken lines... sad.gif mostly to fg knot failure..

sweat.gif FG knot failure??? must be somewhere tied wrongly liao... the first part is actually the most important....need to make sure it "eats" into the mono/fluoro leader before u tie the second part cool2.gif

Tested out the pen rod in towfoo few weeks back... wanted to fish for talapia on it... mana tau pacu whack my pellet... first one dam power... fight for about 5 minutes but putus mono leader. This one smaller manage to land lucky biting on the hook not the leader... quite impressed with the power of this mini rod... i'll put rating equivalent to about 4-8lb backbone quite power neh...

Addon to Bro Rory's Tow foo recipe...

The whiskas cat food is "ocean sea" flavour...

As Rory said.. very seasonal... there was once Sunsweet Prunes was the favourite.... but only about a week....

All kinds of funny funny recipe la... Last I went with the photo I showed using the pen rod... is pellet + banana flavour..

Try using light leaders (10-14 lb) and long-shank hooks for the pacu... noticed that wires and thick leaders not so fancy..

braid -> leader -> snap -> lure

don't use a swivel to work a lure. a swivel might alter the action of the lure.

this is the snap that i use.

No need use swivel if using BC reel...as line will not twist... If using spinning reel, using swivel will prevent line twist... tongue.gif

But recently I've been using snap swivel even with a BC reel, dun really see much difference maybe cos the one i use is really small la... tongue.gif tongue.gif

If u are, yes they allow but single hooks

(actually i plan to try no hook... kaka) since see the forum posting lok chiak wan wor... if u kena 10x 1kg fish then have to pay RM150 liao... but at lease u only pay if kena fish la... altho size not big la... but will be good for casters that want to "hoi Gong" all their "virgin" lures sitting in the tackle box for so long liao.. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
