QUOTE(inv @ Jan 14 2012, 03:20 PM) Sorry mate i never had any round profile i cant give any advice. My suggestion would have 1 set for baitcasting freshwater(abu black max 2+rod of your preference) and 1 set for seafishing(spinning reel) |

QUOTE(bomberkenny @ Jan 15 2012, 03:59 PM) another friend of mine donated a set of rod+reel to me today. A lemax red sword and a shimano sahara 750fbi noticed that the lemax red sword's guide tip is broken, so i think i need to get it replaced. i've searched through youtube and there are few video that teaches you how to do it, so now, all i need to do is get a new tip to replace it. ![]() as for the shimano sahara, it spins well, but most probably gonna send it for a service anyhow. checking the specs of both rods and reels, it seems that it's a bit mismatched. I got a super light reel matched with a 'heavier' rod. Lemax Red Sword Model: RS 66 MFS2 Length: 6'6" Type: Spinning Section: 2 Power: M Action: FAST Line Test: 8-17LB Lure Weight: MAX.25g Shimano Sahara 750FB Line Capacity (lb/yds): 2/240, 4/120. 6/95 Gear Ratio: 4.7:1 Line retrieve per crank: 22 inches Weight: 6.9 oz Bearings: 3BB, 1RB Thinking of matching the Sahara 750FB with a MajorCraft BassPara BPS-662L rod. The rod will cost me RM190.50. And perhaps get another reel to match the Lemax. ORRRRRRRRRRR.... straight away go heavy duty and get a Shimano Curado 51E @ RM585 + MajorCraft Go.Emotion GEC-63ML/632ML Rod @ RM355. decisions..decisions... The lemax is a good rod, just fix the guide and you'll have a good saltwater rod. But i would get another reel, a casting reel that can fit 200m and above of 20lbs braided line. Saltwater resistant is of cos an added value.

A daiwa 4000 can fit 300m of 20lbs braided. I have to know your budget and how you would use your reel before i can advise. Do you go seafishing on a boat or kelong? rm 130 reel can sometimes do wonders already

I don't think I have the opportunity to fish by boat yet. Even if I did, it won't be anywhere deep. |
