MGX / ALT / LTX all abang and adik ler.
ALT / LT / LTX are JDM specs.

LTX shallow spool same body with MGX only for fresh water use built with Mg body and carbon plates. more for finesse fishing.
ALT is aluminium plates with carbon frame for both salty and fresh water use.

THink all 3 uses centrifugal braking system unlike the Elite that uses magnetic brakes.

Expect to pay higher price for ALT and LTX because its JDM.
IMHO MGX is good enough coming from Pure fishing malaysia, can get at RM6XX

QUOTE(Einjahr @ Jun 20 2012, 09:51 PM)
heya guys need some help here

can anyone recommend a good leader brand that is available in malaysia ? A soft but durable fluorcarbon leader  the 10lb, 8lb or 6lb class, coz i need it for luring. Anyways, have you guys seen any tackle shops in KL stocking any of this?

user posted image

I have the vanish fluorocarbon line in the 6lb class though, any of you guys used the vanish before ? Are they recommended ? or is there something much better?

thanks
*
i've been using Berkley Vanish and has been serving me well, very seldom change as I tied FG knot to mainline which have not failed on me before icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

But u need to know there's 2 types.

1. Leader Material - Much More expensive, slightly harder and more abrasion resistant. can't seem to find any tackle shop around KL selling per meter, only got per box of about 10 or 20 yards costs about RM20-30+ sweat.gif (Have to thank Bro Fookie icon_idea.gif rclxms.gif for being kind enough to help buy me some from Sitiawan when he goes back there)

2. Main Line (dunno use what name la) - used as mainline, much cheaper (about the price of braided lines) can be found quite easily in tackle shops. Softer and less abrasion resistant.

The picture u shown I've not seen it personally. Just the Transition one I've seen. If u want can contact Pure fishing Malaysia and they can tell u if they got bring it in or not.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, very helpful response and helped cleared up things alot.

Well the vanish should be better than the 10lb mono im using I hope; I've just attached the 6lb vanish leader to a 4lb braid i'm using on my stradic, and i hope it wont cause me to lose my yamashita jigs coz they ain't cheap...  I'd be crying buckets if the leader fails on me.
*
You're welcome. I also agree with Sifu Rorytate on the Alpha-ex leaders... cheap and good... easily found in most tackle shops (kepong, Puchong etc.) although haven't seen any below 30lb lah... use it for jigging myself, i guess the fish in the sea not as smart as those in freshwater gua... especially those paypond Siakaps can differenciate 14lb fluoro and 20lb fluoro wan... sometime 6lb mono also can see... vmad.gif KNN...

Wow... 4lb mainline with 6lb leader notworthy.gif notworthy.gif I myself dare not go so light... like u said sure cry one when loose expensive lures cry.gif (not that I have any really expensive ones also tongue.gif )

i see most of the time people loose their lures is when during casting the main line snapped and the lure will fly to kingdom come... (of cos besides those that kena snag or went looking for monkeys in the trees lah tongue.gif ) Not sure it's bcos of bad quality braid or casting technique, Touch wood only happen to me once or twice.... also put more care on the FG knot.... make sure u "Lubricate drool.gif drool.gif often... brows.gif biggrin.gif

inv sums up what i have to say... about FG as there's no knot at all on the thick mono/leader, hence the smoother cast. i haven't use uni knot before to join braid to leader. If in a hurry I would use Albright instead of FG, next best knot i know that takes seconds to tie... will usually add another overhand knot at the end of the braid for extra peace of mind (and also use lighter to burn the mono/leader end so it has a bulge for extra extra peace of mind icon_idea.gif - also works for FG)

Improved clinched for the hook/swivel/snap smile.gif never failed me so far..

and the the heavy sinker trick sounds good... thumbup.gif always forgot to bring lure retriever... doh.gif

Try calling ocean sea serdang (0389457725) or kepong tackle (03-6274-0460) or SS2 fishing fever (0379582623) before u go, so no need to purposely go lo brows.gif

wah... eye pain... just read through about 10 pages of directions from the seller about how to use/take care of the Pen Fishing rods... And he keeps on emphasizing that each user MUST read the whole instructions... although he sounds a little "lansi"... but I guess he just wanted to make sure that we care for the rods and reels properly.

But Damn long lor... will forward to u all later...

Sighhh sad,.. no wonder I dont see any more PB in the lake. fark those retards!
Anyone keen Kota Damansara forest this Sat ? Dry season,.. weeds shd be thick like hell now.
Else can go Covar condo lake or the hidden pond near Ribs@Oasis
*
Sorry to say that I'm about to open up a can of worms... Please do forgive me if I've said anything wrong... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Although I don't bring fish back as well and am a firm believer in catch and release, I don't really see it's such a big deal for ppl to be taking back 1 PB for consumption or whatever he plans to do it with. If he took any other local species like Toman/Haruan/Sebarau etc by the guni loads I'll be pissed as well vmad.gif vmad.gif

PB's are foreign species that have invaded our waters by the truck loads and eliminating our local species, just like how the snakeheads/asian carps are invading the U.S. I still remember quite a few years back I've seen photos of people (not sure if some organization or personal effort) putting in quite a number of juvenile tomans in subang lake to control the PB infestation, so after so many years I've not really seen anyone pull up any toman also from the subang lake, which means that most likely kena sapu by the PB liao.

Thought I'd shed some light on this matter to help protect our local indigenous species which is getting harder and harder to get (sad to say cry.gif cry.gif ) nowadays in the wild. I think in the future our children may not get the chance to feel the wrath of wild tomans/sebaraus and etc.!

Hope I did not offend anyone tongue.gif

glad that you agree with my point there bro 1dollar...

I guess it's more about educating the people nowadays... same with a lot of fish species that are dissapearing from our oceans.

Have tried reasoning with a lot of people to stop eating shark fins soup but sad to say that a lot of people are still ignorant and refuse to believe that Sharks ARE endangered species with 100million sharks killed (recorded) each year.

They also refuse to believe that if the mercury content inside the fins (yes! mercury) won't kill you, the chemicals they used to wash the fins WILL!

Even more shocking to hear that some complaint that Sharks are pests, and should be killed at first sight... Sigh... when will people learn...

Have been diving for about a year now with 20+ dives and sad to say that I've not seen any sharks before...

Added on July 2, 2012, 6:28 pmAlthough Pacu's are not local species, but you don't really see lakes/ponds infested with them. PB's a different story...

As much as I like the fact that PB's are notorious predators and takes lures and etc. they are still an alien species.

1dollar, Actually i did follow a bunch to Perak last weekend... not bad result also... tongue.gif didn't invite u guys cos me not orgynizer, just main ikut only... kekeke...
