Bro Inv,
Brake setting as in baitcast reel?

1. Magnetic Brake
2. Centrifugal Brake
3. Hybrid Magnetic + Centrifugal Brake

Each reel has it's own characteristic and it will definitely vary from one reel setting to another one.

I'll give some example
1. Magnetic Brake
- Abu Garcia Revo STX 2010 = Set to 3
- Team Daiwa Luna 203 = Set to 5
- Team Daiwa TDX = Set to 1

2. Centrifugal Brake
- Shimano Curado 200G6 = 2 pins
- Abu Garcia Revo MGX = 2 pins(supposed to have 4 and not adjustable, i remove 2 pin permanently)
- Banax Armis = 1.5 clicks
- Okuma Halogen = 6 pins

3. Hybrid Brakes
- Abu Garcia Revo STX 2011 = 2pins and magnetic set to 4

be it whatever the setting would be, i hardly adjust the brakes to suit the lure. smile.gif Naturally we will feather the spool during the cast anyway

Good ones not cheap,.. Most american brands here tarak, only seen the Pflueger. Quantum smoke was rated highly too.

Hahahaha~!

God's will that we met thru forum donkey years ago. smile.gif CONGRATS!!

Well, we both have tried the Curado and definitely a worth buying reel, no regrets i would say. Casting a 2.5~3grams lure, with 30lb line, PE2 rod is awesomely great!!

Bro 1Dollar,
Yeah, the latest 2012 Curado.

Well, it's the trait of the game. Cheap one no good, Good one no cheap. But again, honestly speaking me and Bro Chun have been using an el-cheapo Banax Armis for years, and it never fails us - be it the drag or casting factor. But one thing for sure, ability to cast light lures takbley la... Bro Chun have upgraded long time ago and now using the Abu Garcia Revo Elite IB. Awesome and great reel!!

Put it this way, Pflueger and Quantum, we dont have any disti here in Malaysia all these years. Therefore, getting parts and the reputation of these reels are not proven yet. Hopefully, Purefishing will be doing something great about it soon. smile.gif

Yes. Baitcast reels. I have problem casting far using micro lures on my major craft go.emotion 6'3 8-14 lbs rod with curado51e.

My brake setting is at 3. Will try 2 and give it a go.

Bro 1Dollar,
Having expensive or cheap reel does not mean anything as an Angler. I would see in another factor anyway..
1. Expensive reel but dunno how to cast
2. Cheap reel but greatly experienced Angler.

I vote for number 2 smile.gif

OK, thanks for the tip,... I will work on my spin reel skills first. Till the day i can hit coke and pepsi cans 20-30 meters away then i got with BC. LOL.

Bro, I ran out of red wine,... I will bring some Coconut wine (local made expensive tody) nice with hot days when its really chilled.

Bro Inv,
Everyone have their ways to cast, especially the energy being transferred from arm to the tip of the rod till the lures flies.

As for your setup, you should be able to cast 5grams UL as a start. When you mean you couldnt get the distance, you are stating:-
1. At the end of the lure flight, got minor bihun?
2. At the end of the lure flight, no bihun but short distance?

Perhaps, share with me what are the lure weight and line you are using?

Bro 1Dollar,
Thanks for the great todi! Perhaps can bring 6pack of guiness too? Perfect combo!!

Baitcast reels are far more better than spinning, in term of obtaining the accuracy. As soon as you master the BC factor, you will not look back to the spinning factor when luring. smile.gif Personal opinion.

As for myself, i used spinning and multiplier in different manner.
Jigging: Multiplier and spinning
Popping: Spinning
Luring: Multiplier(BC)
Trolling: Multiplier
Drift: Multiplier

I can wank left right hand... LOL

I'm using ygk braid, 16lbs. Lure weight around 3.5g tormentor 5cm.

I couldn't get the distance coz it seems tht the lure lost momentum during mid flight. If I try to flick it harder/faster, then guarantee got beehoon and still don't get the distance that I want.

Bro Inv,
Sounds like brake issue. Try to place the brake pins of 2(across each other) and check your tension knob.

That should be it smile.gif
