You can either clean bulk or dirty bulk, dirty bulk would probably increase your bf due to the excessive surplus of calories, around 600-800+ of calorie surplus might be consider as a dirty bulk, and base on your pic, i think your bf% is probably at the 14-16% range.

correct me if im wrong, but i thought that the only difference between a "dirty-bulk" and
a "clean-bulk" is the quality of food that is eaten and not the amount of calories consumed.

As far as i know, bulking or a bulking period simply means a period of time consuming a larger amount of calories more than maintanence level.
If your extra 500 calories above your maintenence level is from junk/fast food, then its a dirty bulk.
If its from a clean healthy gourmet (eg. lean grilled chicken/beef, veggies, healthy fats etc) then its a clean bulk.

my advice to McDbigMac, dont worry TOO much about the body fat percentage. What DL said is true, its harder to gain muscle at a BF % less than 10. Youre looking like youre around >14%. Concentrate on gaining as much muscle as possible with as little fat gain as possible. Dont worry if your BF% goes up 2-3%. but dont overdo it and let it go up 5-10%.

For what its worth, its easier to lose fats than gain muscle.

Yes you are right, dirty bulk is referring to fast food, junk food and also the over-excessive calories, but even if you have a clean diet, consuming more than 700-800 more than your maintenance would also lead to the increment of bf%. Just that the calories are not as dense in a clean diet compare to those junk foods. So a dirty bulk is easier to be achieved unconsciously by eating those junk foods.
completely agree here.

In my opinion,
Dirty bulk --> eating whatever you want without any calories tracking (mostly end up 800-1k of surplus)
Clean bulk --> calculating/tracking your macros (preventing one from overeating which leads to fat gain), it can also mean that one can eat a pizza as long as it fits his macro.

Correct me if im wrong.

ummm... agree half half? haha. tongue.gif

Im not qualified anyway to say right or wrong, but by personal preference, when I eat clean, i reeaalllyyy eat clean. No sugar/carbonated drinks, no eating out, cooking in all the time, bake/grill/steam instead of fry. But thats just me.

thanks for the advise mind asking should i take supplements? i went to GnC shop and ask around they reco serious mass rather than optimum
Firstly, how is your diet? the real food you eat daily.
are you eating enough protein/carb/fats?
is your daily calorie intake enough?

in my opinion, "a clean diet with enough amount of macronutrients (prot/carb/fats) and calories ALONE" is better than "a bad diet with low macronutrients PLUS supplements".

check in with your diet and training first, there's stickies here AND THEN think about supplements. i personally refer to www.tmuscle.com for all training and nutrition articles/info.
