I play all sorts of sports and I'm definitely not a bit slow and I'm pretty agile, just sayin'. Weight training improves your game. I play striker/attacking-mid in futsal/football and it helps loads to be quick and strong at the same time.

For me, I'd hit shoulders hard once a week and give them time to recover, cause they indirectly get involved on back and chest days as well (rear and front delts).

My advice is to keep doing direct ab exercises, ON TOP OF having a good diet and doing cardio.
