My solution for GPS Problems:

Just want to share with you my method to solve GPS problem in SGS I9000. Those who still have problems with GPS, you can try the following tips & tricks. I just show you the links from other sites and you can give them credits. All steps I have done and it works great:

1. Tricks (double tape). Follow the link below:

darky forum

2. Tips: Edit gps.conf
Follow the instruction from the link below:

darky forum

I provide the apps that can be used to browse root system (yes you SGS must be rooted) here: sufbs

3. Tips: Do experiments in flashing the Modem/Phone/Baseband!
I have tried this method and work fine. If you haven't flash any stock ROM into your SGS please read and do it right.

a. First check from the following links:
Modem for Stock ROM:

Modem for Deodexed ROM:
deodexed ROM

b. Flash via Odin in download mode, select PHONDE no 'Re-Partition'. You can get Odin here:
Odin

Note: I did enough experimenting a lot for Modem, It depend on ROM that we used, I found DXJV9 is the best Modem for me, first time lock GPS in 5-10 s (used JVQ base ROM). Try ZSJV5 or ZSJV6.

hello guys..
is GB rom stable enough for everyday use now?
i intend to just flash it once and dont want to update whatsoever..

yes, better select one of custom ROM and flash into it. those that have battery drain mostly use stock ROM. GB is much more better than Froyo. The one that said have battery drain problem in GB perhaps used stock ROM. But if they used custom ROM and still have battery drained, meaning they don't know what is Android or don't know how to use it. Those also that said after use GB have longer battery life it also possible.

you can't not generalize the battery life without saying what apps you use or how you use. so try (custom) GB ROM and feel the differences.
