Hi Guys, I am totally a newbie in rooting and stuff. Recently i have updated my SGS to DXJV9 firmware and followed the fuguroot instruction from XDA for rooting. It works like a charm. But then there comes a question. Is there anyway to undo the root? So that maybe i the future i can still use kies to get firmware upgrade and warranty purposes? Thanks
*
as far as i know, once u root, there is no way to unroot it ... but normally ppl will just flash the whole stock firmware for warranty purpose .. as for stock firmware upgrade, u can easily find it at XDA ...
btw, not sure if u know this, custom kernels includes rooting as well ... so its like one stone hitting many birds, such as custom kernel of tweaks, performance, color settings, root and many more... happy flashing! biggrin.gif

@janov, well logically yes tab's wifi receiver will be better than a phone due to the hardware ... a phone's wifi receiver hardware is very small thus the range/signal is weaker while the tab bigger in size would be using a bigger hardware receiver ... of course both of this cant be compared to a laptop/netbook but i am sure a tablet's wifi is better than a phone ... another thing that matters is the hardware brand itself, but that isnt much of a worry as we are now in the blooming stage of technology world, wifi hardware are at its best regardless of brand if not that brand will bankrupt ... haha

juz wan to know why my sgs cpu always 100% load and sometimes a msg pop up say that memory full.any solution?running stock xxjvp
*
i guess u use alot of the "Home" button rather than the "Back" button .... if u keep using the Home button, apps will run in the background thus making your phone slow down ... memory full is mostly the virtual memory which is the ram i suppose ... try start using the Back button, if this is not the case ... take a photo or printscreen and post here ...

*
i think u should do a full clean wipe of your phone including internal and external memory .... but of course, do a backup first for your apps and things u can wan save ..

QUOTE(nasrulbond @ Aug 4 2011, 09:27 AM)
oh ya, anyone here on darkyy's rom? i ditched his rom for quiet a loong time already. tongue.gif and seems like he got a lots of fanboys out there to worship his rom somehow. sigh
*

i'm sort of helping a friend moving to his new place at that time, and i put my phone in the back of my pocket. i just realize it after i got back home, then tengok at the screen, the screen protector kinda a little bit torn up, when i look carefully, got some hairline scratches alreadyy. sad.gif

edit : is it dangerous to have pirate apps in our phone? i kinda have a few.
*
i think it should be fine as long as u get it from a trust-able source ..... but i dont use my phone for anything related to "money" so i dont really mind much .. haha

wan to ask,....does the 3G watchdog is reliable for 3G and phone act as hotspot?
*
as far as i know .. its one of the more reliable 3g traffic counter .... but i am not sure about phone acting as 3g hotspot, logically, i would say it should be fine since data traffic goes in and out of the phone and will be recorded...

QUOTE(penew @ Aug 6 2011, 02:55 AM)
lets keep this thread alive & me with my noob question again..haha..

now that i've got speedmod kernel loaded, any recommended setting/tweaking can be done?

You can't access market to download terminal emulator? Or afraid that it'll brick your phone, cause bad luck and blow up your house at the same time?
*
i would like to know of alternative ways ... blowing up my house or not is non of your business ... if u dont know, i would suggest u keep it as your thought rather than wasting server space and ppl's time to reading about it...

den i open odin i should browse for zimage in PDA column?
check only auto reboot & f reset time?
*
normally i use odin, and if u havent use before best is just leave everything at default ... and yes in the PDA column, it should be a .tar file ..

i have tried dis zimage using odin to root my sgs
but it comes to loop boot so i flash with dxjv9 kernel and now my sgs gt a superuser icon only no busybox
and i wan to ask where to dwln unroot file?
*
busybox can be downloaded from the market i think ... (or maybe the superuser app that can be updated in market)
to unroot, u will have to flash a clean dxjv9 ....

my suggestion is, if u want to root your device, best is to just flash in a custom kernel (e.g. speedmod, semaphore, etc) ...

i m noob ^^ best is to just flash in a custom kernel (e.g. speedmod, semaphore, etc) ...not really understand dis part.
but my condition is i have rooted my dxjv9 so now i jus wan to noe whr can i download d clean dxjv9 kernel?
*
everyone starts as a noob ... u will have to learn it urself, we cant tell u everything as there is too much... most of the info u can easily get it from first page ...
there is no clean dxjv9 kernel other than flashing the whole dxjv9 again ...

both phone varies since it has slightly different specs, u cant get a new SGS now ... if u got the bucks maybe u can go for SGS2, else SGSL is the way for u ... or second hand SGS ... lol

can i just install any rom w/o care abt firmware version, like now 2.3.3 but choose 2.3.4 rom?
*
the most important thing is the bootloaders ... basically, Froyo bootloaders (e.g. 2.2+) cant go with Gingerbread firmwares (2.3+) ... in your case, u already have 2.3.3 which is already on gingerbread bootloaders so no worries on that ...
another thing u should check is if your file system is on RFS (stock samsung) or EXT4 (so called 'lagfix') ... but since this is your first time, u should be on RFS ... just rmb to what u configure when u want flash something else ...
lastly, each custom rom thread have their instructions, read it first ... happy flashing! laugh.gif
