hi all, just fast question. I'm using miui now, if i want to flash back to GB rom, do i need to flash base rom? Or just flash directly to other ROM?

I actually thinking of flash to CM7, nvr try b4. Everyone also saying it's GOOD!!!

i'm using EZbase2.0 with MIUI, so if i were to flash to CM7, need to flash to froyo with boatloaders? or EZbase 2.0 is froyo base already?

what is nandroid backup as stated in CM7 page?

hello! new user (both Android & SGS) reporting in. need help here.

my problem is, still on Eclair firmware. can't go to download mode (hold volume down + home button + power button).

tried few steps from what being suggested in xda forum.result = nothing.

tried to use the Odin3(like what in the first page) = nothing.

any suggestion or alternative to flash to the latest firmware? or did i missed anything from the previous pages.please highlighted it. thank you.

guys, i've flashed to CM7, it's a very fast ROM. btw how to get google apps like gmail, maps? i only got Market after installing gapps from CWM.

Guys wht do I do when my market says Error downloading/updating due to insufficient space on my phone when I know there is plenty of space left?

I am Using 2.2 when I bough it 4/5 months back from Australia  it was pre loaded with 2.2. Now want to get 2.3.4 but Kies says that my current version is the latest version.

Why is it?

And what should I do to get 2.3.4, I want to try Odin but afraid if i brick it.

Thx icejoker. But there is one more problem. My google maps which is a system maps wont update. There isnt any option to even click update although my version is one lower. How do I tackle this?

cant find MarketAccess.. any solution?
i installed this, but dont know why i only got Market, GTalk, Google Search, Voice Dialer but no Gmail, Maps.. If i were to reinstall, will i need to redownload all my apps? cause i always check updates of my apps using Market, if it doesn't appear means have to reinstall right?

For me, it's the best ROM for SGS. Based on my experience so far, it's super fast, virtually no lag at all, gps locks quickly and accurately, very stable, daily updates are released, battery life is acceptable, it has no samsung touchwiz layer and apps - feels very plain android (some people consider this ugly), 3G and wifi and bluetooth work fine etc.

Some downsides:

1. You lose the Samsung video player with native hardware acceleration/decode (i.e. smooth) MKV and AVI playback.
2. FM Radio probably works, but is pretty buggy and limited for now.
3. If you're not using a big extra capacity battery on your phone, the battery consumption may be too much for you.
4. Compass doesn't work (not sure about this, never used it before)
5. A new nightly update sometimes brings new bugs or reintroduces old previously fixed bugs.
6. It's not the final version, the ROM keeps changing and improving day by day, I don't know if or when a final release will come.
7. No telco-based video call feature so far unless you use apps like Tango.

Flashed gingerbread bootloaders over my CM7 last night, after reading that many people get improved standby battery life using the GB bootloaders.

And from what I've seen so far, that is very true. i still have 55% of battery left after 15 hours of use, in which 8 hours were idle standby (sleeping) and the rest were moderate usage ( few phhone calls, a few games, sms and light browsing).

Will report back after a few days on how it goes. From what i can see so far, it improves the STANDBY battery drain but not the battery drain when IN USE.

Apparently you lose access to your external sd card though, but i dont use one, so cant test. keep in mind that flashing GB bootloaders over CM7 IS AT YOUR OWN RISK
