It should work.. Have u tried copy the apk to the app using root explorer?
Extract the apk, and copy to /system/app. Then reboot the phone.

Does the swype shows in languange & keyboard settings?

Yes it show in the language and keyboard setting but I get FC when I select that..

after i move the apk to /system/app .. den the swype didnt show in langauge and keyboard anymore =.=

I also encounter this problem before when i tried to install gingerbread keyboard (when using samsung rom). It gives me FC all the time. What i did was
1. Clear dalvik cache first. Reboot. Usually it works.
2. If that doesn't work, i have to delete the current keyboard that i have. By default it has swype, so i delete swype.apk then install back gingerbread keyboard.

My suggestion to u is that make a backup prior to all the changes (easier for you if something messed up), try the 2nd method (if u dare enuf.. ) and hope it works. If it doesn't, i really have know idea how to help u. If it works for me doesn't means it works with everyone else.. Gud luck anyway!

im on swype beta can be installed on miui galnet.... emmm whats wrong with ur miui....

wondering if we can turn off "history" that included in contacts apps..

coz it also show the text of sms that we send & received.. no points to lock messaging apps la if so.. :-D

Root using Z4root

My SGS ( froyo 2.2 ) tried several times, but failed
Open z4root, then press "permanent root" ... ... but failed ...
Has F / C. ......how?

1) flash speedmod froyo kernel
2) boot into recovery
3) root at recovery
4) ???
5) profit

For updating firmware via odin, should i tick or untick the re-partition???

just flash a kernel like speedmod which included pre-root. so the most easy way to root is flash a custom kernel using odin. just go to xda and find speedmod for froyo.

do you have pit file? if have then you can tick if not no. check my siggy.
