This might be useful for some people.

I called at least a dozen time a few weeks ago regarding the fee I have to pay.
Out of boredom, I wrote down the automated instructions. tongue.gif

RM550 excluding utility bills? Where are you staying? TTS5? I'm assuming it's a single room right? Attached bathroom?

Did you sign any contract? Some place require you to sign a 12-month or more rarely, 9-month contract.

If you haven't you can always try to opt other place. There are still quite a few rooms left.
You can always try those numbers listed in the classified (tanjinjack had posted 2 posts, where is this week classified btw?)
Since you essentially already got a place to stay, now you can take your time to survey the houses and rooms.
Call the landlord/main-tenant so you can have a look first. (<-Very important! Some houses/rooms really sucks)

By the way, the house I'm staying have a single room available biggrin.gif
It's located in TTS4 and currently occupied by 7 engineering student (wait, you are non-engineering student right? hmm.gif )
RM450 per month excluding utilities.
Call Hock Soon (main-tenant, 017-3135 826) for more details if you are interested icon_rolleyes.gif

Okk!But what if i dont have a car?Possible to go there by shuttle bus?Any shopping center or what nearby?
*
If I recalled, the bus shuttle doesn't go to Broga.
You can choose to hitch a ride with friends though.
Or hire a taxi. I see them once a while at SA waiting for student.

The bus shuttle does go to Semenyih town, though I heard the frequency is not very good.

There is MyDin and TheStore in Semenyih. Tesco in Rinching.

When is the industrial training and how long is it? Do we have to search for the companies or the university will give us a list of companies that we can apply for the internship ?
*
If you're doing 3 years, it's in your 2nd year.
4 years, and it's either in your 2nd or 3rd year.

The Uni will circulate ads for internship in the email system.
Certain society will also organise event where many companies gather.
You can also search for internship yourself.
You do have to fill up a form regarding your internship when you are done.

Prepare your resume well in the 2nd year and/or 3rd year.
For the internship, usually you have to apply yourself and you will be competing with lots of other excellent student.

You can already get the information for the Nottingham website.

Business and Management Foundation
Candidates with SPM need a minimum of 6 Bs including mathematics, excluding English for Science and Technology, Islamic Studies and Moral Studies

They might consider it depending how well active you extra-curriculum activities, or your personal statement, or just how desperate does Nottingham wants your money laugh.gif

I want to ask something from you who study in UNIM. Hope you can help me here.

I believe that UNIM will provide you with an ID card, right? Can I know what is the function of ID card. Can it be used for ATM, TnG, etc? what is the function of ID card?

Can someone kindly post me the ID card picture? You can blank whatever that is not necessary. Thank you  smile.gif

The card is only every used for 4 things:

1) Identification
. (the only time you will really ever need to use it is during examination, you can use you IC also though.)
. (other times, the guard usually won't ask for your card, not sure about sport complex facilities)

2) Photostat-ing
. (Near the photostat machine is a small electronic box where you tap you card on top of it.)
. (it will then display your credit and deduct if as needed)

3) Borrowing books

4) Shuttle bus

On another unrelated note,

I find it extremely inefficient that their only way of recording attendance is by passing a few blank pieces of paper around for people to write down their name, ID and signature.

Extremely easy to cheat
Very slow (for people to write it down and randomly passing it around)
And takes lots of huge man hour to key in into their database (<- this I'm not sure but I imagine they would digitize it one way or another)

Isn't that good for you? Or you prefer the lecturers spend time to call names one by one (imagine a class of 200), or invest in smart card system (even then you can hand your student ID to friends for that), or fingerprint system?
I highly doubt they really care a lot about your attendance. It's more on references like to prove to sponsors that you have been attending to classes etc.

It's just how a University works, you don't need a person to tell you or even force you to a class, it's all about the students themselves when they come to this age. Self-disipline is important, is your own lose if you cheat, you do the things, you take the risk and the consequences.
*
I don't care about my attendance.
Attendance have no consequence on local student at all. (aside from external party)

What I do care, it the massive wasted man-hour for they to key in the record.
Seriously, think of the hours wasted.

It's not about student self discipline.
It's about the gross inefficiency of such system.
Is there even a point for such system?

And yes, I do expect them to invest in smart card system.
It's not hard. They just need to slightly modify the machine we tap to photostat.

It's obviously faster. (3 sec to tap vs. 12 sec to write down)
And if accuracy is a concern, the lecturer (or designed students) can stand watch.
1 student per card.
Not perfect, but at least a more accurate and better student.
