I think there's a comprehensive review about Economics course few pages back. Try looking for it.

Nah, not a problem. People come here, either to advise, or receive advice about education.

TBH, it all depends whether you want to join oil & gas or not. Admittedly, it's the most lucrative industry in engineering, also the hardest to join and might involve higher risk (depending if you work on site or in office).

UTAR is not a bad choice, half the price of Nottingham, but definitely not half the quality of Nottingham. Nobody can tell what's going to happen in next 4 years, but generally you'll probably have a difficult time in finding a job as there will be graduates from overseas leading the packs, followed by Nottingham and Monash etc., after that only it comes UTAR, Taylor's, UNITEN etc. Of course, these might just be taken as a pinch of salt if you are a good performer in interview which is the key of winning a position.

Just be aware that you may meet some students that are doing averagely in UTAR (well, I believe Nottingham will have a flock of spoiled one as well), but UTAR will also attract some best brains in Malaysia - the Chinese that is "left out" by UPU or simply brilliant individual that's constrained financially (you?).

hurm I am not sure if I am going to major in O n G in the future. right now, I am not sure which industry should I major into xD

hurm. true. in the future, there'll be more graduates and more difficult to find a job >< true also that interview plays an important role smile.gif most people told me that companies do not look at the cert anymore. as in it doesnt matter where you graduated from. is it true? as in, they hire people based on their interviews. and also depanding on the demands. I am not sure, but most people said that people tend to hire graduates from UTAR. I am not sure about this because I read from somewhere and I dont wanna judge based on this smile.gif

I believe that all unis have those who are averagely smart, very smart and those spoiled ones. XD and like u said. UTAR really attracts some of the best brains in Malaysia >< that is why it is quite competitive in UTAR and that will really push oneself.

Right now. My dad encouraged me to go UNMC. Since it is better in engineering. but at the same time, I dont wanna burden him. sad.gif It's not cheap in UNMC compared to UTAR.

sigh. I've gotta wait for my A-levels results to be out [13th August] I hope my results will determine which university to go sad.gif

UNMC or UTAR? or UCSI? haha xD

The thing is, even if you are a UTAR graduate and when the position you are applying for has a large number of applicants, the HR will only keep very few for the interviews - that is where a UNMC degree will keep you at the forefront compared to UTAR. Whether that justifies the difference or not, I couldn't say - but you tend to have an edge when applying with well-paying companies, especially those from O&G as their recruitment is always flooded with applicants.

Hello there,
I am looking forward to become an undergraduate student in UNMC, (mech eng to be specific biggrin.gif ). I have already applied and got an offer, but waiting for my A levels results on 13th of August sad.gif .
I have read this forum and found you people friendly and simply awesome, so I decided to join in.
Well I am not Malaysian I am actually Egyptian, and it would be my first time ever in Malaysia (and the whole of Asia). I am both excited but a little nervous since it is the biggest, most dramatic move in my life so far.
So what about the university ? Is it academically powerful and helpful ? Is it utterly boring and dull ? What about the social life ? climate in Malaysia ? I never seen rain for more than a year and I heard that in Malaysia it rains daily.
Is there anything special I should bring with me ? What is the situation for international students like me ?
Is UNMC worth it ? Do you love it ?
I noticed that the creator of this topic (tanjinjack) is also a mech student. Hi man, you 're famous now biggrin.gif. What about mech eng in UNMC, are lecturers good and is there a huge difference when compared with UK campus ? Let away all the formal stuff, what about the facilities and how the uni treats you ?
I look forward to hearing from you, let's chat and I am sorry for being a little talkative tongue.gif

OH MY GOD, I now realize that I am not alone!
I always bother their application office by always emailing them every week and that's what I always get that :\
I submitted my application early June!! At first I thought they need to verify my diploma scores (as I am from Indonesia) so it would take a bit longer, but now it's already too long!!

owh meaning the name of the university plays a role? i wonder if Chemical Engineers are in demand now. =/
because those elder people told me, it doesnt matter where you graduate. as long as you have a cert and go find a job. and also i heard they prefer UTAR graduates. so right now. I feel a bit lost sad.gif
hope my results turn out good. then it'll make my selection easier =D
ahh! XD i am so blur in these =/

Of course not!!! that was not even one among my choices. First choice was the Single ensuite bathroom with AC which I did not get even though I have sent an email to the accommodation department requesting them for that room 1 month ago. They told me not to worry they would consider my request but clearly that's not the case!!!! mad.gif

Should I send them another email for a change of room?? they dont seem to be quite friendly these people!

I think you do not need to send another email for changing the room. From my experience, they won't change the room and they will ask you to reply them in 7 days if I am not mistaken. Last year I sent a email to request changing the room and they replied me " There is no more single room ". Btw, my friend got his accommodation offer after one week and the room offer is single ensuite bathroom with AC. doh.gif

Anyone here staying in EduSquare? Considering their Standard B Rooms as it is cheaper than on-campus. How far is it from the campus?
