hi all..is the exam centre crucial in term of passing the paper?
one of my lecturer recommended me sunway U and another one recommended me IPB..i'm staying in kajang btw..
*
it used to be a rumour that if u take in a centre with competitive student, ur chance in scoring drops cuz scripts are sent in a batch from each centres and markers indirectly might have sense of comparison when marking each scripts in the batch...

but nowadays that rumour is no longer valid cuz its no more sent in batches, instead scanned into digital copy and digitally sent to markers, this means even if 2 person sat in same centre, chances are their scripts are marked by different markers..

Last sem, one of our lecturer advised us to change our exam centres from Sunway Uni to some other centres. Reason he gave us - the exam papers are marked centre by centre and students especially from Sunway are exceptionally hard working students who have been geared/trained very well to attain high pass marks. So that Sunway can always maintain the Platinum status. So if your script is mediocre and sandwiched between Sunway students scripts who might be of uber high quality,it could affect in some way.

So, i ended up changing to UCSI Uni near Cheras and some of my classmates changed theirs to MARA,Shah Alam!
Anyway, whether it is true or not,im still sticking with UCSI since i like the atmosphere in the exam hall and it is quite near my place!!
*
this used to be the case when scripts were physically sent to UK for mark, but nowadays its digital so scripts from every centre are randomly sent to different markers...

know that Sunway is NOT the only ACCA tuition provider out there.
These tuition providers in KL provide a much better team of lecturers, with almost 50% of the cost at Sunway with less students per class.

thumbup.gif totally agree!

I studied both in Sunway and outside Sunway so I can tell that despite Sunway have higher pass rate etc, there're also a lot of experience and skilled lecturers outside of Sunway..

Lets say I'm working in an audit firm now. I've just finish my degree in accounting and is planning to take ACCA for my proffesional papers. I've been exempted to the last 5 papers.

But i'm still thinking whether to work while study as I know audit job needs lot of overtime during peak season.  Should I continue working while taking my ACCA papers? or should I just concentrate on taking ACCA and finish it in 1 year?
*
totally up to you...

If you wanna continue working and study part time, its advised that you don't take more than 2 papers in one sitting...

or u can do a NPV analysis tongue.gif
take more than 1 year to finish ACCA but got constant salary every month, or forgo 1 year of income to get higher income after that 1 year..

I always prefer to drop my resume at career fairs. Have you been to their online application?

PwC even needs to know your family background and several unnecessary info.

And sometimes I feel that dropping off your resume actually provides faster response than online application.
*
ic, thanks.
do u just drop them ur resume and cover letter or together with academic and non-academic transcript?

was just a short visit, handed in my resume to a few selected co. then off I go...

only submitted to big 4 except PwC tho cuz PWC say better to go on9 to submit.. other non-audit firm(tesco, maybank, tan chong, petronas etc) only see abit, they mainly to advertise what kind of jobs available in their co.

Guys I want to take accounting course next year. can I know:-

1) to do ACCA, is it that I need to do CAT first and if yes, where can I get the cheapest but good & effective CAT course?
2) where can I get cheap and good ACCA course? I last heard that UTAR provide ACCA course thats not too expensive as well.
*
1) if not mistaken, the fastest way is to do CAT 1st then u can continue to ACCA with 3 papers exemption(F1-F3)
2) you may refer to 1st post, there have a list of recommended lecturer and where they're teaching for each subject in ACCA, u can go for their classes. But if you prefer to attend all classes in a tuition provider only then there're KSA(Kasturi School of Accountancy, EliteJaya by APEC, FTMS, TARC, Sunway, Orange International etc..
