guys can ask, after i graduate my degree, and exempted 9 papers,
can i straight away continue my studies for ACCA?

means exactly after degree i study the remaining 6 ACCA papers without working.
*
it's a choice to you.

maybe you could work in the small firm n take 1 paper at a time. some firm allow the staff flexibility to take near to a month - unpaid leave.

I am taking P3 too. Feeling nervous about P3 even after attempting questions. I had a nightmare very recently, in it, I opend the exam papers to find all questions unfamiliar! : (

I suppose the message to me from that nightmare is, don't skip topics/concepts etc
*
wow..i'm still in the midst of reading + remembering the theories. @@ havent do questions YET. doh.gif

I go chapter by chapter, after attending class and reading up on notes, i chose a question on that topic to attempt. I did the question opened-book. I know that i cannot refer to the book during exam but it is at least a start for me. If not I will never get started. I have a very kind lecturer who has been helping me to mark my essay questions.
*
ohh, my lecturer marks my answers too. i did them at the beginning. then slowly, i'm getting lazy.

ACCA exam is a killer exam. It requires lots of hard work, sacrifice & commitment. Many people gave up half way through.

You can pass the CPA exam easily with just a total of 1 hour of study for each paper or no need to study at all. I have done it before, all MCQs & you can spot the answer easily from the options A, B, C or D. Lets say for example in the CPA Tax paper, the question can ask 'What's the company tax rate? A. 20% B.30% C.40% D.50%' Obviouly the answer is B.
Another example in CPA Auditing paper, the question can ask 'Which of the following would trigger a bad debt situation from a debtor? A. Debtors pay within the credit period B. Debtors pay by instalments C. Debtors still owing for more than a year with no guarantee D. Third party pays on behalf of debtor'. The answer is C.

Easy huh ! That's why CPA is always a joke in Aust employment market.

If you want to remain in Aust, take up a master or ICAA. If you want to come back to Msia, then CPA....boleh lah as long as it's under MIA recognition.
*
R u serious about the sample of the Q? that's way too easy, looks like a pre-u or a degree standard to me.

-----------------------------------------

on another note, CPA is an open-booked examination. i'm uncertain if it is applicable to ALL the subjects, or only selective subjects. you could do some tagging or highlight all over your notes. it doesnt matter.

for ACCA examination, although u know all your principles, u still have to practise questions in order to pass!!~ read me...pass. not score!~~ it all depends on how good ur explanations to your answer within the time constraints.

important thing is study smart, not study hard. (which i still fail to do so doh.gif )

last round was predictable but not this time. as for Q1, we don't know what will come out this time since SOFP came out in the last sitting, this time may be SOFP again or SOCI or combo. most likely not SOCF
*
yeah, i agree. last sitting was predictable. i was unable to complete some questions in Section B doh.gif

i dun think it would be a combo unless lesser adjustments. i think as an examiner, they would test us on standards, rather than technique of conso. rclxub.gif

just study our best. sweat.gif

I've been a disaster in ACCA for some time. I'm planning to quit after the current exams. If I still don't pass, I will opt to drop from the course. I'm already 24 this year. I shouldn't be wasting my time with failures. However, I'm thinking of joining CIMA since my exemptions for CIMA are still "active", should I give it a go or should I stick to ACCA?
*
I heard that CIMA is much harder than ACCA. Do u have degree qualification? If u have, just take it slowly since u have some exemptions.

Btw, i'm stucked with ACCA toooooooo... sweat.gif

Hi,

Pls help -  i need advise on P6 - report and appendix:-

You know when you are asked to write a report , the format of the report has Appendix at the end of the report which shows all the calculations - my question is

1. Do you do calculations first as workings and then start to write report and whenever a figure is quoted in the write up is it marked with a Working# and at the end of the report show title "Appendix" but indicate to the marker "pls see workings" ?

Im confused as to how one can write up a report without doing computations first?

Do we scribble all the working on the question papers first and then write the report and when come to Appendix section , then only copy down all the workings done earlier on the question paper? - This is a waste of time but im confused!!

Pls advise

Thank you
*
hi,

just leave the few pages blank for your report/letter/etc
then compute the calculations in the Appendix
then only write your report (on the blank pages that u have left earlier) and apply the figures in your report, just indicate to them: the figure is xxxx as per the Appendix attached.

please look at the PYQ and its marks allocation. quite clear...

Hi, guys.

After failing CPA 3 times, decided to take ACCA next year.

I wanna ask that whether I should register now, or next year January so I can sit for the June 2012 level 3 test?

Also need to let them know I'm degree graduate for the exemption, right?

Thanks.
*
how many papers left for your CPA paper? i personally think that u shud continue CPA instead of switching it to ACCA.

my frens are able to pass CPA and are graduating soon while those who are doing ACCA, still suffering to retake the paper again and again.

Q3 Q4 Q5 which one u did?

i choose Q4 n 5...what about u? i didnt even read Q3 tongue.gif

Q1 cash distribution and the Q2 alternatives to consider to acquire new company....a bit shaky. not sure if it is right or not. i just know i have to write and write...dun care much

Q2 group relief part is still ok...as long as u remember the condition. it is still doable.

sigh!~~ i dunno...i just want 50.0000000 brows.gif

yeah, I agree with you. TongCN should take up CPA if he finds that ACCA is too hot to handle. A high scorer master degree holder also finds that ACCA is hard to crack.

CPA is very easy & nobody fails. It doesn't require any accounting knowledge to pass.
*
CPA is not that easy and nobody fails. the percentage of failure and the toughness might be a little bit lower than ACCA.

Hmm, TongCN...better think twice before changing smile.gif I was like you last time, choosing between CPA and ACCA. I choose ACCA cuz I'm able to write during degree times. However, I realise that my writing is NOT good enough. Although you may cover all the syllabus, you may not be able to pass as well, might fail marginally. Given the tonnes of notes/preparation, stress and the time constraint, ACCA is not really as easy as you may think.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hmph, we are chasing away ACCA potential client tongue.gif
