There you go, a genuine photographer summarized it for you dilfadil81. Should have enough data there to make your decision. Dont be swayed by opinions of others, make your own mind when it comes to what you need. After all it's your own purchase. Nothing is pointless when your money is involved.
Also helps when assumptions is out of the way too. Gunning for specs misconstrued as gearheading doesn't make your picture composition any better or make you a better photographer, it's subjective really. Like using a tool, just because you use one more often, doesn't absolve you from making everyone else's choices look unimportant as yours. It just makes you look like a tool. We all know what presumption is the mother of, dont we?

A nice preview on the NEX7 :
http://www.dpreview.com/news/1110/11101420...ideopreview.aspThe presentation is in 1080p though, so gearheading in this case would help getting the "better picture", compared to interpretative art. I cant find artistic value nor the subtleties of taking photos of peeling paint from old buildings anyway. Or grown men playing and taking pictures of dolls.
Also for the record, all these can be avoided too if it weren't for that cavalier use of the word "pointless". Hey, it wasn't me,I didnt start it, I'm just returning the "kindness" extended to me.
