QUOTE(Lazyboy @ Jun 25 2011, 02:43 AM) Look under settings, account & sync, managed account, click on google, check the box that says sync contacts. Yes I have sync contact with my Gmail account. But after I do factory reset, how to recover the contacts?Another thing is, can I use sync function to import contacts from my old phone in to sgs2? |

QUOTE(Slekerz @ Jun 25 2011, 06:12 PM) Last night i get scare because i have boot loop after i flash villain rom, the reason is i don't wipe data/dalvik cache before that, i have to go to cyber cafe to find solution how to access back my recovery, thank god can find it in internet. You mean need to do factory data reset after root and before flash new rom?So for new user that want to root your sgs2, please read the guide carefully. If need to flash new ROM, we need to do factory data reset, then re-root, then start flash new ROM

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jun 25 2011, 07:46 PM) I STRONGLY suggest you readup the features of the roms you wish to flash. You will get yourself into trouble if you don't do that. Do not just jump in to flash the easy way trying to follow some rules without understanding the features of the rom you wish to flash Again thanks for the advice Mr. President,The different roms in XDA has these features : 1. Some will wipe clean your phone while some will nbot 2. Some will auto root for you whiloe some will not 3. Some requires you to root it yourself after flashing using an insecure kernel method 4. Some roms required you to wipe clean ( ie factory/hard reset ) ; some will not - is optional step. But my advise is it is better to wipe clean ( hard reset ) so you start with a new plate , again is optional I always recommend for new users, the easiest way of getting yourself started : ROOT - easiest method use Supercurio Rom flash - start with Litening - as using it , you learn how to use Odin. Also flashing this rom will NOT wipe your phone clean Recovery - use Chainfire v4.0 . You will need recovery installed if you wish to do a nandroid backup and full restore of your rom. Some roms required you to flash using RECOVERY mode and not through Odin. Some roms even auto installed Chainfire recovery when you flash it So the GOLDEN RULE is please READ the features of the rom you want to flash - check whether it use Odin or through recovery ??? Does it install recovery auto for you ?? Does the rom wipe clean your phone ?? Another GOLDEN rule : ALWAYS ALWAYS wipe clean cache partition and in ADvanced mode - clear Dalvik cache BEFORE you flash a new rom - this will avoid reboots keep looping or phone fail to boot after flash. This also means it is in a way compulsory you install a RECOVERY first before attempting to flash a new rom. If you are lucky you could have a successful flash; if you are unlucky you will curse yourself because you want a fast way Im running XWKE7 now, rooted. Now going to flash with Villian 1.4 after read through all the pages in XDA I think I should: Flash to firmware XXKF2 Run factory data reset Root with Cf-root (XXKF2 version) Flash to Villian 1.4 Backup with Titanium backup Anyone have successfully running Villian 1.4? Kindly advice. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jun 26 2011, 11:08 AM) This is what Villian says about his rom: paste here - note my highlights Thanks again Mr. President.VillainROM 1.4 The latest custom ROM from VillainROM for the SGS2 is VillainROM 1.4. It's based on XXKF2 firmware for Europe. First of all, if you are upgrading from VillainROM 1.2 or above, just flash this from CF-Root version of CWM. I suggest a backup first. A wipe is not required, but if you have issues, is suggested. I updated without a wipe, and no issues here. If you are installing from another ROM, or stock ROM, you need to be using the CF-Root kernel, as applicable for your current ROM. You can find CF-Root and instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1103399 When using this ROM, I suggest the XWKF2 CF-Root kernel, from post 4 of Chainfire's thread. So, your steps : note my comments in bold Flash to firmware XXKF2 : NOT necessary as the rom comes with XXKF2 Run factory data reset : YES best to do it and from recovery do clear cache partition and at advanced: clear dalvik cache Root with Cf-root (XXKF2 version) : Flash this first than only do above step Flash to Villian 1.4 Backup with Titanium backup : You should do this as FIRST step before even flashing new rom - read again Villian comments - his first 1-2Â line Hope theres a thanks button i can use for. QUOTE(un_id @ Jun 30 2011, 06:05 PM) which one is the better way of rooting: using Chainfire 4.0 or Supercurio 3? Supercurio is the easier way. But Chainfire will provide you the nandroid backup function which is very useful. Can backup and restore all your apps, data, contacts, SMS and etc with just one clickany issue on any of the kernel for the two methods? will root my SGS II this weekend. yuhhuu.. |
