hey guys.. regarding rooting. does root post any threat of malware, viral, backdoor or abusive activity to our device? coz its hacking, and we use tools developed by other hackers. afraid that other hackers will gain access to our device.

i think TS should take note on this issue and pin the solution/comment on the front page.

Guys.. a few issue i would like to ask here.
1. i feels my SGS II a bit choppy, especially while browsing web will full destop view. is this common to others here, or just ne? 2. Can we reduce the size of the touch keyboard? It takes half of the screen while vertical, but thats ok, but it covers almost full screen when i turned it to horizontal to type! I cant even hardly see what im typing 3. battery drains so fast. I can say significantly faster than my iphone 4 (compared while browsing web). And maybe drains faster then my last DHD if i recalled it right. i just browsing for quite sometime, then i will start to worry about the juices left. |

i've been searching around for infos regarding battery issues. i found some interesting facts, maybe some of u already knows it, but here goes for some who did'nt aware:
The major CULPRIT that causes battery drains is the WIDGETS!! apparently the radios (data, wifi, bluetooth) are not responsible to drank all the juices. Test has been done (see in the source) and found that battery drains almost gone after widgets were removed. Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135033 |

QUOTE(yehlai @ Jun 30 2011, 02:23 PM) Wait for Digi, with this phone I can use up 6-10Gb easilly, even without d/l any movies. im still using Digi unlimited internet plan, bought the SGS II without subscription to Maxis plan, now enjoying internet so much.. i tell ya, Youtube never stuck even a bit while streaming! and i watch video streaming almost everyday. How is the over bandwidth penalty charge from Maxis? This post has been edited by un_id: Jun 30 2011, 02:31 PM |

QUOTE(c010 @ Jun 30 2011, 04:21 PM) Digi's coverage no doubt is a pain in ass. i have a lot of friends ported out from digi to maxis or celcom. personally i have tested their speed with celcom, and it kena tapao flat. QUOTE(yjeen @ Jun 30 2011, 04:26 PM) + 1. Digi is slow. i'm on digi and my wife is on maxis and can see the difference. hmm.. but i compared too, did not notice any diff.. maybe it depends on places, coz ya Digi lack of coverage. but if u r in a good coverage, its just similar. but, unlimited data with low coverage; or Godspeed but will running out of quota in the middle of the month (more expensive summore), i definitely choose the first option. I think ultimately it depends on your needs and your cost tolerance |

QUOTE(yehlai @ Jun 30 2011, 06:56 PM) Supercurio is the easier way. But Chainfire will provide you the nandroid backup function which is very useful. Can backup and restore all your apps, data, contacts, SMS and etc with just one click Talking bout nandoid backup.. I remember lastime while im having DHD, we always perform nand backup prior to rooting, in order to enable us to restore the phone to stock. Without the nand vackup, we cannot restore to stock. Thus, wasn't it necessary to perform nand backup for the stock kernel for SGS II?Sorry if I got the concept wrong. |
