Guys, i need your advice here

i was successful Root my device and boot into home screen.
Next when i trying to remove the triangle according to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

But during step
(5) Reboot into download mode (adb reboot download, or boot the device with home and volume-down pressed)

(6) Fire up ODIN, and flash the Samsung kernel

I click start, but there write failed, and the phone is still on download mode and no longer responding. No choice then i have to remove the battery

After boot up, now the screen hang at one dark screen with

Phone icon ---- Exclamation Triangle ---- PC

I try boot using vol down + home + power, but it still bring to same screen.

Please help me, is it brick?

Where did you download the samsung kernel. since you have jig just use it to remove yellow triangle.
*
from XDA forum. This should be the stock kernel GT-I9100_TGY_I9100ZSKF1_Kernel.tar

Yes, the jig did serve its purpose. Thanks again.

Btw, a new question, iinm, using titanium backup can freeze unwanted apps that running background right?
I did grant it superuser right, however i can't find any options of "freezer"

Did you flash it as a zimage file . You cannot flash it as a tar file for this purpose

Added on June 26, 2011, 5:50 pm
No , it should be able to freeze ALL apps except core system apps. I have freeze most of the samsung default apps and widgets I don't use. I am using orinal purchased version. Other versions abound on the web I cannot vouch for it
*
I am following on this guide at XDA, however stuck at step no.6.
He stated flash the Samsung kernel, doesn't he mean flash the tar at PDA using ODIN?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For the titanium backup pro, my mistake again, it did manage to freeze most of the apps, even it is not running at background(such as games, etc)

He has make it very clear you flash a zimage file not the tar file, you have to e/tract the tar file one level down to have the zimagefile
*
I did extract the zimage into sdcard folder as mentioned in step 3.
in step 4, he mentioned Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)
that is why i flash using the tar (stock kernl) .

So i should put the zimage file into sdcard folder, then open ODIN, on PDA, browse to sdcard and put zimage? hmm.gif

btw, i found a newbie guide (long and details explanation guide at XDA). May be you can put it at 1st page? smile.gif

So does GPS work fine in ur SGS2? What type of GPS apps run smooth in SGS2?
*
I think not only my SGS2, most of us here is more than happy with its fast lock up time.
Personally i only tried the built-in navigation and papago x5, uncle benny said that sygic aura is performing even better.

For those who r looking to share their LAN via their laptop WIFI, below are some tips.

1. You need to set up an access point using yr laptop (ad hoc wifi won't work).
2. How to set up? Follow the instruction here -> http://www.ishanarora.com/2009/07/29/windo...s-access-point/
3. After u create the access point just restart yr laptop in case it's not working properly.
4. Make sure u shared your LAN connection via ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)
5. On your mobile WIFI and connect. No USB cable require.

That's it.

1. There is another guide at XDA, it should have the KF1 stock kernel link. You may find the link a page 1 i think.
2. Won't

Guys,

Some update on based on my observation. Initially, I installed Papago with the latest 110501C map and I have very slow to lock up. After Benny suggestion , I tried to turn on my mobile data and the lock up time is faster but when I drive, I encountered twice force to close. Then, reached home, I put back the old map which is 100806 and once I turn it on, I get lock up within 5 secs even WITHOUT turning on the mobile data...Will check out tomorrow and see how it perform when navigate in the car...smile.gif

Just want to share my frustration on wanting to get the phone with the current stock shortage, and share a bit of laugh as well.

My boss ask me yesterday, what phone should he get now (he change phone like change shirt btw), so i told him SGS2, but I also warn him about the stock shortage. Today he on leave and I got a miss call from him, when I call him back, he took long time to answer. So I ask him why take so long to answer, he said, (the exact worlds) "Because I don't know how to answer phone on the SGS2 loh...." and he continue to say, "I got the new phone you said, and it is free some more, because I called my friend."

Speechless..... Just to show how the elite people are so connected....

Wait... my story not finish. Feeling a bit frustrated, I decided to go to Maxis Centre in Sunway Pyramid, to try my luck, and hope there is stock. When I ask the lady whether there is any stock, she told me, "Yeah we received stock today, but sorry sir, the last unit has just being taken by the gentleman there."

Now my friends, and my boss are teasing me for not having one. LOL... doh.gif  rclxub.gif
