He has make it very clear you flash a zimage file not the tar file, you have to e/tract the tar file one level down to have the zimagefile
*
I did extract the zimage into sdcard folder as mentioned in step 3.
in step 4, he mentioned Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)
that is why i flash using the tar (stock kernl) .

So i should put the zimage file into sdcard folder, then open ODIN, on PDA, browse to sdcard and put zimage? hmm.gif

btw, i found a newbie guide (long and details explanation guide at XDA). May be you can put it at 1st page? smile.gif

Hello ALL SGS-II people,

I'm still contemplating whether or not to get the IPHONE 4 OR SAMSUNG GALAXY SII.

Many many reviews that ive read obivously states that SGSII beats IPhone4. I have no doubts bout that.

Anyway, my question is, would the 3GB data from MAXIS be sufficient for 1 month usage for a person who does alot of facebooking, and whatsapping? Because if i exceed the 3GB USAGE, ILL BE CHARGED A BOMB FOR IT. ):

I dont know bout the android market, but is it possible to download viber application? like that in the iphone? (:

Kindly reply thanks!

coming from iphone 3gs user. Definitely go for samsung if you like freedom.

Freedom includes:
bluetooth transfer pics/songs/ringtones to other phones
can just select an mp3 and choose 'set as ringtone' to use it as your ringtone (iphone can't do this SIMPLE thing)
can use ur device as mass storage, copy mp3 into it straight away, i hate to 'sync' my mp3 to my iphone, i hate itunes, but that just me
very customizable, from homescreen, to everything
many 'custom' roms to play with, each are unique!
definitely use android if you're slightly techie, and know what you're doing with tech devices smile.gif iphone is just too boring!
too much freedom to be listed in a single post!

not to mention, the specs on samsung galaxy sii beats iphone 4 in every way. Even the iphone 5 that's coming out only has minor improvement.

i use whatsapp all the time, and i'm using the maxis 100mb package... more than enuf for me.. not sure about facebooking though, to me 500mb is more than enuf... 3gb... u sure u can use that much? (unless youtube)

advice from a user of both iphone and samsung galaxy sii... get this phone! =)

Iori57 thanks alot for answering my queries, really appreciate it dude! biggrin.gif

Well, for me, im a N900 nokia User, it's using the Maemo OS and it also has pretty much everything that SGS -II has.

Only downside is that Maemo is not a developing os, hence its apps and games are just terrible. I hope Android has a better range of apps and games though.

Are most of the apps free or something? Or do i need to purchase them? Is there something like "jailbreak" in SGSII though? (:

im on a 3GB maxis data package.. with youtube, i easily hit 3GB and usually by the end of the week (6-7 days before reset cycle), i already consumed 80-90% in 3G watchdog T_T. It is sufficient alright but dont do youtube or DOWNLOAD ROMS and TETHER to laptop too much lol like what i did sweat.gif

A simple example of mine based on normal use.. browse2 Android section here + garage sales for 1hour is already about 15MB, guessing got lots of images to load for sure.. My pattern of data on phone when out of home is twitter (tweetdeck), friendcaster/fb official app, Pulse reader for reading new stuffs, XDA app and few market apps..remember not to set auto check update in android market otherwise it will auto update apps even when on 3G. 3GB is sufficient for heavy phone user to read, absorb knowledge and socializing but dont do much on media. If wan to download, use tubemate to download and not to stream.

p/s : Anyone uses livejasmin app here? haha xD

I have not done it on the SGS II. Based on my experience flashing all my previous  Android phones, just use Odin to flash back an OFFICIAL rom will do it. Flashing stock kernel will not do it

Tks uncle benny. been thinking if something goes wrong and want to claim warranty id rather not leave any trace of rooting whatsoever i.e as stock n official condition..

Hi all,

I am trying to use Supercurio 3 to root.

Can anyone guide me the steps?

There's a link in the website to download the below file. What do we do next with the file?

"100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-3.tar"
*
Please refer to page 1 post # 5 where I have write down a tutorial covering all the prerequistes on PC, links to file downloads, Odin etc. Just follow it exactly

ya, if you jump from nokia to iphone, you will notice a lot of 'obvious' functions you can do are missing.... I did when i move from n82 to iphone

yes android is the fastest growing thing now, it has quite some apps and most that i used in iphone i'm able to find it here.. just that it has less games compare to iphone.

jailbreak is called 'rooting' in android world i think, i just started using 3 days ago lol still noob

Yes, this will do. So do write down your phone original specs so that your official rom you find matches it
Record down your firmware specs, example mine original was :

Baseband/PHONE : I9100XXKDH
Kernel : 2.6.35.7-i9100xwkdd-cl161513root@dell103#2
Build : gingerbread.xwkdd
PDA : I9100XWKDD
CSC : I9100XEUKD1

Most of the apps r free to download but of course , to get the full features of it , u need 2 buy ...... JB ? Seriously ? U can afford a RM2000+ phone but not willing to spend a few ringgit to get your apps legally ? Like iphones , there is of course cracked version for the paid apps but how updated r they , thats another question .... Some might be a few version behind the latest , making it incompatible with your handphones . Some r buggy coz of the modified files . So , if u plan to use cracked apps or how should i say jailbreak-like apps , dont come complaining if it screw up your phone system files ..... End of the day , the choice is yours

How to download the Malfreemaps? & how to check the latest map?
I'm kind a noob here, my last phone is P1i. icon_question.gif
