hey guys.. regarding rooting. does root post any threat of malware, viral, backdoor or abusive activity to our device? coz its hacking, and we use tools developed by other hackers. afraid that other hackers will gain access to our device.

i all, i plan to root my gs2
juz a few noobie ques here:

1) my kernel version is xwkf1. after rooted can i flash to other stock kernel, as i was unable to find my kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074930

2) is flashing back the stock kernel after root will wipe all ur fon data?

External Battery

Specifically for Galaxy S II an external battery was created. I have heard about the product for some time, but there were different gossip about it. When they made promo on 22nd June, they do have stock. Unfortunately, the demand far surpasses their supply.

The demand for SGS2 is crazy worldwide...i think samsung korea is having a hard time meeting world wide demands. The sales of SGS2 in korea far surpasses iphone 4 when launched. Sgs2 sold 1 million units in korea in just 1 month!

Very soon they might run out of super amoled plus screen n replace with lcd, like what happen to SGS n SGS LCD when they ran out of amoled screen....

So if u can get hold of a SGS2 now with super amoled plus, well done!

sorry i think i still don't get it..

1) if i flash to stock kernel, it fixes the yellow triangle but i lost the CWM boot recovery menu.
2) if i flash to cf root kernel, i can have the CWM boot recovery menu back (but will have yellow triangle too).

is this correct ah?

if correct then i'll use option 2 lor... since the triangle doesn't bother me much anyway

Ok, for those of you who have trouble installing the Google Maps (for Navigation), i had issues too, but managed to do it through the following:

1. First, make sure your phone is rooted, then download the Google Maps-ownhere.apk (NOT the re-sign one), and transfer to your external SD card.
2. Using Titanium backup on your phone, wipe data and then uninstall both Google Maps and Street View.
3. Then using root explorer on your phone (i used Super Manager, which also has root functions), transfer the Google Maps-ownhere.apk file to your phone's system/app folder (make sure its set to R/W).
4. Then just reset the phone, and voila! Navigation is available!

There is probably an easier/shorter way, but this works for me. Hope it helps
