Good write up but you should have included kerb weight in your comparisons. Its an important factor that determines power and fuel consumption. You should have also included more details on the specs. The K5 stands out from the rest because of its design and its superior specs. Your comparison chart for the specs doesnt actually show this. There are more safety and creature comforts that the Optima has. Also, i would also suggest mentioning whether the warranty terms have a mileage limiter as most Jap models have. The Koreans dont.
The complete specs for the Optima:

Btw, how long was the test drive and can you take it on further route? Whats the highest speed u managed to reach?
Yes, you are right, bro .... the focus of my comparison was to take into account the common gadgetry as well as certain facts concerning dimensions (which are easier to find). There are vehicles where the kerb weight information is not provided and it's a real pain trying to find the time to go search for it online.
The spec list of the K5 is so long, if I were to list them all one by one, there is no basis for comparison because there are certain features that are unique to the K5 (such as memory seats, Infinity sound system, unlimited mileage warranty). I try to be as general as I could while at the same time sharing how far underspecced Japanese cars are, therefore mentioning the common items that most D segment buyers are looking for when looking for a car.
I was not able to take the car on a longer route other than stipulated by the company. On hindsight, I should have because I know the roads pretty well and there were no other requests for it at that time of the day (I guess). Kia's decision to pass the car through Sri Pentas is not very wise because traffic can be very heavy there, slowing down each test drive session and increasing the risk of accident (I almost hit a Myvi). When Peugeot did their roadshow, they routed all cars to the back road leading to The Club/KDU which is pretty empty and have lots of straights to test the acceleration. As such, my best speed was probably only about 80-90kph.
