Added on April 15, 2012, 10:19 pmGuys, what's your view with rm7k discount for 2011 model with rear blower. Is showroom condition not a test drive unit as the odo show 50km only. Should I take?

Finally I make a booking today for Light Graphite color. I request to take the car end of June.

No idea how true, but the SA told me PG going to discontinue and will replace by Light Graphite.

I got it from Sunway with RM2500 rebate + Full tank.

Seems that the SA is very confident that the new camry will be perfect and without any issues despite the actual car is not on the road yet. Again banging on their so called super reliable brand. Other than that, camry lost out in almost every segments.

No deny that Optima do looked ugly if the user is reading this thread practicing selective reading and with intention in seeking fault in this car.

I not saying this because I already in the wagon and no return. I been driving this car for the past 15 days and no regret by far by cancelling my Camry booking. For this price, Optima eat new Camry for lunch. New Camry dont even have VSC or ESP. So much for safety and reliability. Dare to tell this to your customer, Mr Toyota SA?

A very good deal if you plan to drive more than 5 years and sure that it is not a test drive unit and got rear air cond. I would take it.

test drove the K5 on Saturday during the Kia roadshow in JB. The interior is really classy and feels premium. Engine is decently powered and using the paddle shifters were good, a tad bit laggy but overall interchanging was near seamless .

Tested the PG version, no news on the LG as the SA told me he can't comment on unconfirmed news. During the ride he told me to thrash the car and and check out the overall handling and performance which I gladly did. It is not as noisy as some users here claim as I found it was more contributed from tyre and wind but still cabin isolation is better then a honda accord.

They had freebies but no discounts offered as this SA is directly under Kia and he told me that they knew of dealers giving unauthorized discounts and taking action. I don't know how true is this story but even the branch and service manager confirmed this, that the day before on of the dealers that had their license revoked came to test drive the car and vented out his anger by crashing the optima to the sorento on grounds of testing the air bag deployment. A police report was lodged.

I know the story above seems far fetch but just for the sake of sharing. Back to the test drive, took the car out for 45 minutes and diverted from the map and my SA was really good even thou at times lacking info that I needed. Due to the EBD and various electrical circuitry that runs through the car, he suggested not adding additional accessories such as front parking sensors as that will disturb or cause an influx of the wattage consumption segregated by the manufacturer for each component. Only accessory they are fine with is the change of logo for RM150

Will wait further for more color variants to come down the pipeline before finally purchasing but in conclusion, test driving the car solidified my choice towards the K5.

wat he mean is that, the normal buying number for WWR will start on friday..so u can buy the number 9889 provided no one tender it few weeks ago, or someone queued earlier than u to buy it...
WWR wont start on tis Friday la. Ive been tracking number plates in KL since last year. Last Friday, the close of business running number for WWQ was 25xx only. I anticipate the earliest possible date for WWR to start is Fri (27th).

Bro, i can guarantee you 99% that your car has been used for tests. It may not be long distance tests but it surely has been used. If dealers/brances dare to use customer cars for tests due to insufficient test drive vehicles, do you think they will leave a 2011 model untouched? hmm.gif

Btw, as far as i know only 2012 manufactured models have the rear blower. Did u see the actual AP certificate? Which branch is this anyway?

But i think the RM7K discount is still too low. Thats only 5%. The drop in resale value for the first year is approx 10-15% especially since this is Korean. So even though u get a discount now, but when u sell later on you will lose alot more. If it was me, i wont take anything below RM10K.

Ya, this is what Kia Sunway told me when I booked my K5 from them, thats y they offered me tinting worth RM2k instead of giving cash rebate.

I remember a bad experience i had with my 1st car when i bought in 2001. It was a brand new Wira and i got it from a Proton dealer who gave me a really good rebate which was more than any branch.

But after about 2 yrs i started experiencing all kinds of problems with the car and when i finally got fed up and went all the way to the top, Proton did a full inspection on the car. They found that many of the original Proton parts had been changed. The shock absorbers, fuel tank, etc were all non original Proton parts.

Since then i have been wary of dealers offering discounts that are too good to be true. I suggest all those of you who purchased from dealers at good prices to get your cars checked independently upon collection. I intend to do the same.

if they did remove the ori parts out from ur car uninformed breaching agreement criminally, they dont have to necessary give discounts...checking the car for ori parts confirmation is necessary at any instances...

Hi there,

I just booked an Optima as well and am deciding between BS and LG but need to see the LG in the flesh firt to be able to decide. I booked mine from a dealer but was not given any discounts as some other members here received. I understand that the discount is only for 'test drive' cars and year 2011 models but has anyone received any form of discounts, even if its a few hundred bucks for their 2012 model?

I actually wanted to register the car in May but my SA informed me that if i register it this month, his delearship will throw in free Vkool tinting, do you guys think this is a good deal? I feel i am not getting a 'good' deal. Though i have yet to discuss with him about giving a free full tank or smarttag.

Thanks for the input guys.

The discounts are for 2012 models. Dealers who dont offer discounts will attempt to run down those that do offer by saying thats for 2011 models, test drive units, etc. YOu need to take all that talk with a pinch of salt.

For your info, there are no 2012 official test drive units except 1 in Bangsar i think. The other 2-3 test units are 2011 models. But u can get test drives done at most brances/dealers as they will use customer cars (not ethical) for sure.

WVG, WVP, WVS, WVV, WVW, WWM, WWN, WWK all done in a week. Rest abt ~7-8 days. 2 full weeks quite rare for KL. Just do daily checking on JPJ website for safety.

especially KL plate...some runner dont want to do it coz too much hassle (must be really early) or some take higher charges compare to selangor...normally they open when the number reaches 9XXX.
