My 2003 Vios 1.5E consumes about 13km/L in 100% city driving and 15km/L for 100% highway driving around 120kmph. But thats due to its higher power to weight ratio and lighter body.

(Btw Vios full tank is 42L according to the car specs)

Bro, once you're in D-segment territory you will never enjoy the same kind of FC, but OTOH you will realize that any car needs to weigh above 1.3tonnes to be stable at speed and retain composure over uneven roads. Just like Contis, they handle better than Japs because most of them are heavyweights. 1.3-1.7 tonnes seems to the sweet spot.

the only thing ugly about k5 is the original rims but well, people may like it smile.gif
anyway just another thought, wouldn't downgrading the original 18 to 17 inch save you some FC?
*
Hmm, actually the offset is out by a lot. May affect warranty. Not to mention scrubbing the fenders when the car is near bottoming out.

Guys, for the sake of our discussion on FC, can we all just use km/L instead of L/100km or $$? Will make it much easier to compare data. Even im getting confused with all these variations.  rclxub.gif

So, how about stating something like this:

9km/L (70% highway 30% City)

Added on April 5, 2012, 10:37 am

Bro, obviously i know that la. U think im Kevin23 ah?  biggrin.gif

Btw, fuel consumption is not an issue for me due to the Shell card but still its good info to share.
*
Better yet, stick to l/100km as this is the most common denominator that you can find on almost all car specs even here in Malaysia.

Seems that Nasim is now offering 5 year unlimited mileage warranties for all their models including the 508. That should increase the competition. Despite the price difference, the Optima goes head to head with the 508 so will be interesting to see how Naza responds.

Can I ask a question. When you make U-turns, do you often accelerate out of the U-turn to avoid oncoming traffic?

if there is incoming traffic, of course u accelerate to avoid ur bum kena kissed...unless u can keep to the left and avoid it..

wats the point?
*
The point is, you should try to avoid situations where you need to accelerate at full turn, as doing so puts additional stress on the drive shafts, in particular the CV joints. If you have seen a CV joint and understand how it works you will know what I'm trying to get at.

Ok upon reading back on the previous reply, it was about steering shaft, not drive shaft. Forget I mentioned it...

This is a common issue. Thats why we must be careful. By putting quieter tyres, your engine sound will become more pronounced. So although u may have eradicated most of the road noise but what you get in replacement is a louder engine.

So always have due consideration before changing. The PS3 tyres arent cheap and it will set you back more than RM3K and ull still end up with the same sound levels albeit from a different source.
*
No such thing bro. It's not possible to make the engine louder by cutting out other noises. Each component adds its own noise level to the overall noise.

By cutting down road noise, sure you'll hear the engine better, but the overall noise level has been brought down.

Imagine two people talking at the same time. Suddenly one of them shuts up, does it automatically make the other person louder? No, it merely allows you to clearly hear the person who's still talking.

Sales guys loves to talk shit.....many of them don't really know much about cars. The donk head that serves me in Klang - when ask what is the torque, he answer RPM4600 and I belasah him. Only 5-6 products in the showroom pun tak boleh paham the details.....how la if selling 10-20 types of products? Haha....smile.gif

well nothing is perfect....give and take lo. The most important is you shiok driving the car.....case close tongue.gif
*
Well, he's not entirely wrong. IINM 4,600 rpm is where the max torque of this engine is produced.

Don't be too hard on them bro, cari makan je... You want to blame, blame the company for not giving the right kind of training.

Well training is one thing but the salesman has to make a personal effort to know his product right?

Ive met a young salesman at Red Cube PJ who actually went and downloaded performance videos from Youtube on the Optima and Sportage onto his Iphone to show customers. He has also read up alot on the vehicles and when u ask certain questions, he immediately pulls out his Iphone and shows you an article on that.

Its all about effort. You have a choice either to wait to be spoon fed or make the effort to get the info yourself. Afterall, its your own sales and rice bowl we're talking about right?
*
No offence, but if and when you decide to get the K5, will you end up buying from this young salesman with so much enthusiasm? Or will you buy from whichever SA can get you the best trade-in deal for your car?

I guess when it really starts to matter, SAs will ultimately buck up or butt out...in the meantime though... smile.gif

The irony about technical info on products is this: Buyers who are keen enough and who are tech savvy (which means anyone who has an internet connection and knows how to access google) will already know from the net whatever he wants to find out. So, going to a showroom to test the technical knowledge of the SAs is a waste of time, really. Also, what's the point in knowing a car's max torque figure? That's only telling a partial story. To know how powerful and driveable a car really is you need to see its torque and power curves on a graph.

In most instances, information such as the above are useless to the general car buyer.

If however, the SA doesn't know stuff like how many airbags, FC, boot capacity, how to operate the car's controls etc, yes, you can fucuk him/her. But torque figure? That's asking a bit too much.

I bet most here don't even know how to interpret torque curves into a useful assumption. So why bother to ask?

hahaa....siapa makan cabai tu, dia lah terasa pedasnya..hahahaa

but seriously, when u decided to buy K5, go back to the best SA u think and tell him what best offer u got from your over-surveying...tell him to meet it and u will sign...if he cant, so be it..at least, he is given the chance
*
I think this is fair.

And in case anyone thinks I don't believe in scouting around for the best deal, I believe that it's the buyer's right to ensure that he/she isn't fleeced by the wrong SA.

On the flipside though, by informing the SA of your choice that you are getting such and such a deal from another branch, might cause him to report it to his manager that the deal seems too good, i.e, the other dealer is throwing prices, which might cause the principal to issue warnings or worse, terminate the offending dealership (that has been throwing prices).

That actually happened recently when I walked into two different VW dealerships. The SA from the more expensive dealership said he knows what the other SA is doing, and reports have already been lodged. The expensive SA even went so far as to say that the other dealer is on the way to losing their dealership lol...

So my suggestion is to keep the best deals you got, hush hush. Only share it with forummers lol... Otherwise as the Chinese saying goes, "One clap two gone" hahaha.

Don't be like the idiot friend of my friend. Because of my friend's good working relationship with a camera brand, the idiot managed to get some pretty darn good discounts for his camera and lenses. Then the idiot was at a camera shop one day and casually asked the prices of the gear that he had bought directly.

When the dealer told him the price, the idiot bragged about how he can get so much cheaper, directly from the camera brand! Of course the dealer tu-lan and complained to the camera brand la. So now, nobody gets special prices anymore lol...

Your fav number has been taken for wws. I would suggest tt you to put in a tender. Now shuld be wwu or wwv. Or wait for wwt running number which may be taken oso. Results of wwt will b on the same day they release the next alphabet, in this case wwr. It may delay a day or two but wont run far. The number scene has been quite crazy lately n the tender value over inflated.

Do drop by the jpj wangsa maju n hav a first hand look at the current results to gauge on how much to go in. Currents results on the board is wwq, wwr n wws.
*
Actually this overinflation is madness. Next year they are going to allow custom plates, maybe that would be better instead of everybody trying to bid for certain special digits or alphabets.

I've seen cars in Oz with plates like "AAARGGH" or "YEEHAAH" along those lines. Damn fun!

It would be nice to get "AZZKIKR" like the car in the movie Con Air.

mind to share how many KM and fuel? With ECO On or Off?

initially i can go up to 680km with rm120 fuel mix city and highway with ECO OFF, but now getting around 620km or less with ECO ON.

some observation, while climbing up genting the engine roars quite loudly. i feel the car a bit too heavy and there is some difficulty in terms of the power/torque. i am using manual mode to go up.

anyone can share their experience?
*
That's why got Tiger Face hehehe. So can ROAR!!!

I guess tts the most sensible thing to do. Depends on luck, sometimes the number u want got no takers.

Anyway, best of luck.

Nowadays, very hard to get even normal numbers. Many yrs ago I paid over the JPJ counter RM300 for "6693". Recently I tried to get it again but already tendered.

These days the running numbers are all those cilaka numbers left behind by the frickin syndicates like 114, 1769, 1453 and other crappy digits lol.
