bro sil3ntHunt3r & soulseeker6187, I have read everything...but I need confimation for some question...I'm looking to flash InsertCoin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...16940&page=1004

As for InsertCoin, have 2 version, is it CM7 R2 HBOOT(need S-OFF) &
STOCK HBOOT(don't need S-OFF)?

both http://revolutionary.io/ & http://alpharev.nl/ are 2 different way to S-OFF?

As for InsertCoin 1.1.3 stated, now can't flash without S-OFF, but I can't get the tutorial with that...
The most terrible thing is, I can't understand the requirement to flash InsertCoin...

A2SD CM7 HBOOT - cm7 hboot from alpharev.nl - the one with 130 mB for /system
- 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
mean I need flash to CM7 r2 hboot from alpharev.nl(required root?)? flashed a hboot mean S-OFF?
after flash hboot, i need partition my SD card into ext2/3/4 partition(each partition 1GB?)?

A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system
- 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition

My suggestion is to read and understand everything related to rooting stuffs. That's the main point.

You can disregard this suggestion but in the end you will suffer if something bad happen to the phone.

anyway,

If you still have Froyo (2.2), you still can use unrevok3d method. This the easiest method to root. Plus it will installed Clockworkmod recovery. *This still S-ON*

If you already updated to Gingerbread (2.3), use revolutionary tool. But this only give 'root' and S-OFF. This method you have to push 'recovery' via fastboot after getting S-OFF..

p/s: correct me if I'm wrong.

Haven't, I researching till end so that I won't be stuck in the progress...can u check my following instruction?

I'm going to InsertCoin 1.1.3 A2SD+ version, as it don't required S-OFF(too advance for me cry.gif )
1) Root, via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
2) Unlock bootloader via http://revolutionary.io/ (I do this cause it is required as stated in http://docs.insertcoin-roms.org/master/en-US/installation/, but, is this step considered S-OFF?)
3) check this downloaded zip file(http://www.multiupload.com/H1MUCCQB0W) by using md3sum (download at http://etree.org/md5com.html)
4) then follow "How do I flash InsertCoin ROM?" at http://docs.insertcoin-roms.org/master/en-US/installation/

The InsertCoin ROM requirement is:
A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system
- 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
I don't understand what is "1 gB ext2/3/4 partition",
is it I need to make 3 partition on my SD card? which is ext2(1GB), ext3(1GB) and ext4(1GB)?
using this instruction(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7279872&postcount=3), Gparted method?

Added on September 28, 2011, 9:56 pmya,I'm still on Official Froyo 2.2, will root my phone soon via unrevoked method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044)

with A2SD+ version, there is no S-OFF required and i don't see the point if u try to S-OFF. Anyway, no harm doing S-OFF, with S-OFF u may flash custom hboot which may be useful for ur next custom rom. Partitioning SD card doesnt required S-OFF, i do it using Amon RA 2.0.0, the clockmod recovery shd be able to do that, correct me if im wrong

Er i can recommend a rom with D2SD, without need to touch the S-off thingy, then u can use EXT4 as ur internal memory. downside is u must sacrify ur SD card space and need a good class SD card, at least class 4 above

1GB means make 1 external partition using ext 2/3 or 4 partition.. ext 2/3/4 are Linux Partition types, similar to like NTFS/FAT32 for Windows (that kind of stuff)

and no, 1 partition is enough but doing so will wipe your sd storage so backup on Desktop/Laptop/Notebook/Whatever.

No need gparted (they should really get rid of that shit), use a decent recovery and it's all good.

Look for 4Ext

and since you mentioned you don't want to S-OFF (too complicated for you??), skip revolutionary step.

Just root (use custom recovery - Look for 4EXT or CWM 3.0.0.5 [4ext is promisingly good - imo])
You can do most of the things on Recovery already. (like Phone wiping before Flash....Flash...make microsd partitions..)
of course can't S-OFF with Recovery though. whistling.gif but you will find Recovery useful once you will be flashing a fair bit to find a suitable ROM for your needs. cool.gif

I think you should be alright.
Take note of the MISC: error after-flash though (Incase it happens which it tends to, sometimes - not to me but on 3rd root kena dunno caused by what...flash record too long, a lot of fastboot command-ing so...)
^ Anyway if you look around in xda (Dev Sec) SHOULD have a solution.

Happy Flashing. (And don't worry about bricking- it won't happen unless when it's putting fake-flash into your phone, suddenly power KO and you got no UPS/using laptop battery then GG.

Woosh, rich drool.gif It looks nice but I don't really believe in the improvements in terms of Audio, teaming up with Beats though.

Oo I see. rclxms.gif
Our phone arh, if you don't root very hard to survive one.

The feeling of being restrained is very obvious...Lack of memory space lah....Junk softwares which you can't remove lah...

rooting guts haha.. Just think of the benefits mate, always think about the benefits... wink.gif flex.gif

Due to our phone's hardware-software limitations by default, I strongly suggest rooting. The advantage is thumbup.gif good.

Of course, if someone gets a phone like Nexus...just get a good Launcher (Go Launcher/ADW) is good enough and no rooting is required (as it will have 1GB for you to use - or possibly more idk, but eitherway, beats 130mb no?)

so..yeah... icon_rolleyes.gif Won't regret.

Oh speaking of which.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154221

Recommend you guys this Recovery. Not sure about for S-ON though, but I feel this is a much better Recovery compared to picking either CWM or Amon Ra.

Design looks good, but spec is boring :/

SmartShot, BurstShot, SweepShot, ClearShot - Camera , good App can do all that.

Non Nvidia Chip sad.gif can't play Nvidia games.

aside from that, all standard specs if you ask me. Still prefer Nexus for it's up-to-date software updates... =) 4.65 inch yo..Full HD too

Data2Whatever I heard it's fast on class 10 SD.

Do you think Ext 4 wears off microsd faster? (Shorten Lifespan that is)

lol @ Darowen, told you de, this phone you don't root, you are torturing yourself.
