1) follow the guides on XDA... basically you can install any version.. just personal preference of what kind of A2SD you like... details about their difference is on XJ's download main page.. i used to flash A2SD and i heard good reviews about D2W.... but i dont think the difference is alot if you're not developers...

2) i cant help with custom boot.. im still using stock ever since i flash my first ROM... which was MIUI XJ last froyo version...

3) If i remember correctly, xj included HTC_IME inside.. the original one... so your chinese input with handwriting should be there.. it's the IME keyboards we are talking about... not ROM.. english keyboards are naturally there.. be it android ot HTC IME... if you flash MIUI-Au version.... you get only the GB keyboard with multilanguage. without chinese... but MIUI-Au is stable and only for desire... and have a better A2SD (automatic... no su a2sd cachesd commands needed)

not sure about MIUI XJ. in case not come with chinese input. My personal suggestion are:
1. Google Pinyin
2. HanWritting ME

for english, there is a lot of kybd you can find in market. personally I'm using Swype.

I use google pinyin too.. but he wan a KB with chinese and handwriting together... most probably the stock one.. i flashed XJ's version once... if i remember correctly HTC IME is included.. meaning stock IME is there... so should have no problem... but that was March when i flashed it.. i dont know about the latest version.. Im all MIUI Au now tongue.gif... just like you(djlah) and phantomash =x

mfm latest map is March 1st for malaysia.. which are still pretty decent.. im not sure about papago update but i have no problem using mine since i first use it...

Maps are released monthly iirc. But support for papago x5 and map updates will cease at 31 august because they will be updating to papago x8. Hopefully got jack sparow by then la whistling.gif

hehe btw i'm using the jack sparrow version. can i have the link for the maps, and how to use it? got many road renovations in JB and KB so i think i need a new map update now.
