QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Sep 5 2011, 09:12 AM) Eerr... Getting an Samsung Galaxy S II which obviously have far superior hardware with a 32gb microsd card to make it 48gb in total is nowhere close to 2.5k. What do you mean by Samsung don't have better physical hardware? Comparing Nokia & Samsung's highest end device,SGS II beat the crap out N9 in hardware section. Both using plastic case also(polycarbonate is still a plastic). 64GB NAND memory could be expensive but I doubt it'll make cost of N9 that much expensive.iPod Touch 4 have 64GB variant & the price of it still ok (for Apple's standard) N9 have 64GB memory but that's it.The memory cannot be expanded because the lack of microSD slot. Some Android devices have 16/32GB build in memory & supports sup to 32GB microSD memory. More or less same as 64GB memory like N9. Frankly speaking Elop have screwed MeeGo & N9 kaw kaw.I don't see much point on the reason N9 should even be released if Nokia don't intent to build on MeeGo success so far. P/S:I'm not Samsung's fanboy QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Sep 5 2011, 08:10 PM) Yeah I know both plastic, Samsung S2 feel like cheap plastic(no offence if you have one) Nokia N97 less than 1 year, side slider broken, side metallic trimming broke out, plus camera glass scratch due to the slider problem. I really don't see anywhere close to reliable from Nokia with recent phones. The only reliable phone recently is N900. Tough and solid. Thumbs up for that. Price is seriously too much no matter how reliable it is. Because Nokia can last, Samsung no, I want something that can tahan, not see2, then less than 2 years...spoil. I dont have good experience with all Samsung electronic products, including phone. If like that, better ask Panasonic come out with handphone then I buy, hahaha AIOne89, I will not, durability issues. Same goes for HTC, cos it's Taiwanese brand, cannot tahan. QUOTE(hangy2k @ Sep 7 2011, 04:01 PM) Doesn't matter, you just need to select your country from the slide down option. QUOTE(alfredtwl @ Sep 7 2011, 11:38 AM) This price is still expensive. Sales is going to be bad. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 7 2011, 05:55 PM) if SGS II is cheap and why is the nokia N9 expensive? because samsung, HTC, motorola, china brand use android? N9 is expensive just probably because Nokia want potential users to feel like N9 is the best premium phone out there. You get new UI You get 32GB or 64 GB memory You get meego OS You get a carl zeiss lens with F2.2 wih the fastest autofocus camera IMO it's good phone but not the best choice of premium device from the company. Why? Because Nokia have pretty much screwed MeeGo.They can choose whatever beautiful word from dictionary but it's fact MeeGo is pretty much dead in Nokia (well at least till Elop remain there). Why should people spend hard earned RM1.5K+ for a phone with an uncertain future? Try using N900 as single phone for a long time & you'll know some of the limitation that comes with mobile OS that have limited support. Afaik N9 will eventually suffer the same fate. It's a well known strategy to produce & market a new device as much as possible so it'll receive god reception & eventually good developers support. But Nokia decided to do the opposite.Words cannot describe how fail this strategy is. Android devices can be sold at slightly lower price because Google don't charge distribution charge for the manufacturers. Just because a device is cheap don't think it's a mediocre device. Too bad I cannot attend the MeeGo Malaysia meeting.Else I would have asked some "spicy" question for the Nokia reps attending the meeting. Some people asked me why am I moving to green robot camp after defending Maemo/MeeGo for a long time I still defend Maemo/MeeGo.It's just Nokia screwed the OS future as I said before.Since Green robot is the closest thing to Maemo/MeeGo I got no choice but move to it. But trust me,it's not all sunshine & roses in green robot camp. |

N9. The next most sturdy phone Nokia ever made after N8 (minus the early faulty batch).
I use N8. Solid alu body. Almost impossible to scratch/ dent on its alu body (same technique to coat expensive sport rims for sport cars). Gorilla glass. Sturdy. Only plastic part is a bit 'weaker' My 3.5mm jack damaged abit at the plastic part, due to my own fault, but the port still function at the best. And i believe N9 will do just the same. Although not sure what kind of material it use for volume rocker and on/off button. Hoping its alu. N9. About the 'too limited' releases, I bet Nokia is trying to make N9 "one last memorable device by Nokia on MeeGo" kind of device. It's limited. Even many Europe countries, India, Pakistan (most of best developers from here) also didn't get the release. No traditional style homescreen (medium to large clock, widgets, shortcuts, etc). Straight to the core. Social media feeds, running apps, apps menu. Quick, fluid, practical. Master the swipe, almost no hassle for the user after that. Simple, sleek, not too thin phone design. We will most probably see N9 later in the form of phones like Nokia Oro (C7 Gold plated) or Vertu. If the core functions of N9 do well enough, a really friggin' rich businessman will eventually choose Vertu N9 rather than gold-plated iphone or BlackBerry. Android? Sorry. Teenster, youngsters, execs sure can. I'm really hoping Qwerty functions can be improve in MeeGo Harmattan, especially in responsiveness, the button sizes, and a very good core app that I hope will challenge the fluidness and quickness of BBM. Please, a REAL push emails. Symbian Anna and Belle proves Nokia is nothing closer to BlackBerry's push emails. I don't want something that promise 'push' but in reality it came 5 minutes late. We will see for ourselves when the N9 launches. Abit letdown when I've been informed that N9 will use microSIM, just like iphone it seems. Hoping those who went to media preview can be well equipped with microSIM. |

That is not Pink! It's Magenta.
I believe with Telco subsidy the price tag will be more appealing. Stay close with the telco plan for the Nokia N9. |

What about Meego apps? If there is no future in the os how to attract developers for it? Will users be satisfied with an expensive smartphone which has no app market?

There's apps repository, tons of useful apps available, and all FREE, many of those, you cannot find in ANY normal smartphone. For those general apps, it's "usually" easily portable between different "smartphone" class OS. |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Sep 8 2011, 10:30 AM) Orz.. now that's really weird XDI wonder when will Nokia put some demo units up, can't wait to try =.= @KennyB Well at least Intel is not giving up Meego, and it seems Samsung is eye-ing on it too, so.. even if Nokia already given up Meego, I think we're still able to leech a bit from new Meego's partners? O.o |
