You mean you old  phone couldnt play avi? Maybe E6 & N900 have similar video functions, E6 can play avi, wmv, mkv, Xvid, whatever WMP can play, most of the English series/movies are in this format.
E6 have the real player in the device actually, but still not 100% smooth. As far as I'm concerned, if cannot watch it smoothly, might as well watch on my desktop. If I want to watch it smooth on the hand phone, make it in the format it can run smooth, lol.  Yeah, less than 5 min to convert & copy a 45 min video.

Anyway, in answer to the nicholas guy, E6 is Symbian Anna also can, so, N9, should be no problemo
*
My old phones are S60v5 how to play avi? laugh.gif
The other benefit of N900 is the 32gb internal and also the microsd expansion maxed at 32gb. Total will be 64gb! biggrin.gif

Some of them publicly said they dumped their phone to their relatives.
This doesn't send a good message to other users who are using that particular device.
Get free phone at least keep it & use yourself.

Talking about dumping device some of the longest N900 users have started looking for replacing their device.Highly likely they are going for green robot team. There's more customers lost by Nokia...

I wanna criticize Nokia everything I know.

TBH, the swipe gesture features only gives short terms of hype. It won't last long enough.

I think otherwise as well. The swipe navigation seems really good. smile.gif

Not really? Maybe depend what kind of mod you're talking about? Most Android device also got no hardware keyboard, and they OS still got a lot of customization; Even N900, I don't think need keyboard for those customization.

But the keyboard really useful for typing and eliminating the annoying 'on screen keyboard' pop up and taking the spaces, etc. It's just different feel, having use both full touchscreen vs one with hardware keyboard, the difference of usage is too much to bear for me who relies on and need a hardware keyboard.

But N9 is Harmattan. It's still a Maemo variant. hmm.gif

Even nokia malaysia made it quite clear. Basically, it's still Maemo with Meego APIs (not sure which version).

Maemo fans is different from Nokia fans. Personally I don't mind Android or WP7 cos I cant see much happening around Maemo/Meego development. Just need a smartphone with good support and not slow slow wait. Maemo fans mostly care about hacking the damn thing ands will run it like desktop if they can.

Eerr...
What do you mean by Samsung don't have better physical hardware?
Comparing Nokia & Samsung's highest end device,SGS II beat the crap out N9 in hardware section. Both using plastic case also(polycarbonate is still a plastic).
64GB NAND memory could be expensive but I doubt it'll make cost of N9 that much expensive.iPod Touch 4 have 64GB variant & the price of it still ok (for Apple's standard)

N9 have 64GB memory but that's it.The memory cannot be expanded because the lack of microSD slot.
Some Android devices have 16/32GB build in memory & supports sup to 32GB microSD memory.
More or less same as 64GB memory like N9.

Frankly speaking Elop have screwed MeeGo & N9 kaw kaw.I don't see much point on the reason N9 should even be released if Nokia don't intent to build on MeeGo success so far.

P/S:I'm not Samsung's fanboy sweat.gif
*
Getting an Samsung Galaxy S II which obviously have far superior hardware with a 32gb microsd card to make it 48gb in total is nowhere close to 2.5k. doh.gif

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Sep 5 2011, 08:10 PM)
Yeah I know both plastic, Samsung S2 feel like cheap plastic(no offence if you have one)
Because Nokia can last, Samsung no, I want something that can tahan, not see2, then less than 2 years...spoil. I dont have good experience with all Samsung electronic products, including phone. If like that, better ask Panasonic come out with handphone then I buy, hahaha  laugh.gif  tongue.gif

AIOne89, I will not, durability issues. Same goes for HTC, cos it's Taiwanese brand, cannot tahan.
*
Nokia N97 less than 1 year, side slider broken, side metallic trimming broke out, plus camera glass scratch due to the slider problem. I really don't see anywhere close to reliable from Nokia with recent phones. The only reliable phone recently is N900. Tough and solid. Thumbs up for that. Price is seriously too much no matter how reliable it is. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Sep 7 2011, 08:14 PM)
N9 is expensive just probably because Nokia want potential users to feel like N9 is the best premium phone out there.
IMO it's good phone but not the best choice of premium device from the company. Why? Because Nokia have pretty much screwed MeeGo.They can choose whatever beautiful word from dictionary but it's fact MeeGo is pretty much dead in Nokia (well at least till Elop remain there). Why should people spend hard earned RM1.5K+ for a phone with an uncertain future?

Try using N900 as single phone for a long time & you'll know some of the limitation that comes with mobile OS that have limited support.
Afaik N9 will eventually suffer the same fate. It's a well known strategy to produce & market a new device as much as possible so it'll receive god reception & eventually good developers support.
But Nokia decided to do the opposite.Words cannot describe how fail this strategy is.

Android devices can be sold at slightly lower price because Google don't charge distribution charge for the manufacturers.
Just because a device is cheap don't think it's a mediocre device.

Too bad I cannot attend the MeeGo Malaysia meeting.Else I would have asked some "spicy" question for the Nokia reps attending the meeting.

Some people asked me why am I moving to green robot camp after defending Maemo/MeeGo for a long time
I still defend Maemo/MeeGo.It's just Nokia screwed the OS future as I said before.Since Green robot is the closest thing to Maemo/MeeGo I got no choice but move to it.
But trust me,it's not all sunshine & roses in green robot camp.
*
Because the future of Meego is uncertain and being having a much inferior hardware compared to phones in the similar price range, the price is definitely expensive. Elop is making N9 a very tough selling device if the price point is really as stated in this forum. Only fanboy will continue to give support and purchase Nokia. doh.gif

And I see you're selling your N900. Good luck. biggrin.gif
Really hoping Nokia not throw Meego away and develop more powerful devices for it. We need proper app developers. Good developers. smile.gif

Maemo/MeeGo don't need whatsapp. It has build in IM application.Just connect to internet & you'll be automatically connected to all your IM & facebook account.
IMHO this is better because IM's are supported cross platform & there are bunch of applications for IM's.Maemo & MeeGo device are probably some of the rare device with this kind of IM integration.
Intel won't back down from MeeGo that fast.
Most probably on hold till their medfield/moorestown SOC is complete.
Problem with Dalvik is the program need to be integrated to the OS.Probably to the kernel level.
Myriad rep said that Nokia themselves has to integrate Dalvik in MeeGo.
Inferior hardware is again result of Elop's idiocy.N950 is scrapped 1st MeeGo device. For sure Elop could have instruct the smartphone devision to pack a better hardware for N9 after that. But to avoid N9 packing too much punch & at same time to save the good "stuff" for WP7 device he probably told the MeeGo team to use whatever scrap hardware available in Nokia warehouse.

Again I'll say that Elop is an idiot.
*
Even if Dalvik is integrated to the OS itself, we still have to consider that we are running Android apps which are basically relying on much more powerful hardware. How well will N9 cope with those Android apps?

There're lots of IM client for Marmo and I appreciate that IM integration's been done in N900, but well, having Whatsapp which lots of people are using seems more convenient right. Not to say IM integration is no good. It's great but not everyone logs in to IM all the time. This is really user problem.

No matter what, I really still hope Nokia change their mind and decide to work on Meego. Why can't they work on Meego and promise a future for it instead of announcing the death of it before it's even been given birth. Damn it, I really want to beat Elop to death. doh.gif

But Nokia's giving up on Meego. So N9 in conclusion has been given up. doh.gif
