sgs2 as internet tablet ONLY?u must be very rich.lol.
*
Not rich but I always say battery life is important for me.No point having hexa-core processor if you phone battery will only last for 30 minutes.
Even if N9 can last as much as iPhone 4 I'll consider it as quite good already.
And yes,If the the battery life is indeed good I'll get N9 & turn my SGS II as tablet.N9 do have WiFi hotspot function. No need for another 3G plan whistling.gif

are u kidding?i4 battery life is nightmare for me.sgs2 batt life is acceptable TBH.duno bout N9.but my experience to nokia phone(every nokia i used),battery life is very draining fast when turn on 3g+wifi hotspot.even faster compare to i4 or any android phones.
*
Really?
I've used my sisters iPhone4 for few weeks (reluctantly) I found the battery life was quite good even with the all the syncing on.Browsing through 3G lasted longer than SGS II.

Linux kernel generally consume more power compared to regular OS.I'll be surprised if the battery does last that long.N950's battery doesn't last that long.

If Nokia let me choose a custom color I'll go for slightly dark red.

SGS II is the best phone I ever used...

/action watching, still watching... and still watching...

Anyway, its not like Nokia fans do not compare... basically Nokia is doing what Proton is doing with Wira... FL1, FL2, FL2.1, FL3... all same spec, with different camera and case... what you want to compare?

I love Google and Apple... because they forced Nokia to change... LOL
*
I love the SGS II's screen the most...

Well, they did produce Wira until suddenly producing Perdana & kill it straight away.

I don't think Google change Nokia much. It's Apple who kicked Nokia's @$$ repeatedly.

Designed to be used by dummies is OK (aka simple), don't make everything for dummies, like iOS.
Make things simple but NOT remove the intermediate-advance features. When you remove, it no longer feels or qualified as a smartphone OS, but probably a multimedia OS or app launcher, such as those Multimedia players, adding in internet browsing capabilities, apps support.

A 4th homescreen with widget would be perfect.

the SWIPE function quite fun to play with~ smile.gif

For N900 users we kinda got used to the idea of navigating OS without any buttons.
So yeah, swipe gesture should appeal more to us.

When you are just about to have fun with the phone, Nokia will announce that they will drop support for the phone. :|

Seriously I don't see much fault/bug with this OS.Nokia probably need to add few functions with N9's social networking apps & add flash support if possible & that's enough.
The community can take over updating the OS/apps after that.

Maemo/MeeGo usually depends on repository rather then App Store.
Yes,the repos might don't have the fancy UI's like proper App Store but you can get almost any type of application you want.

Well frankly speaking I think Maemo/MeeGo have done relatively well given Nokia have constantly neglect Maemo/MeeGo.If they gave the resource given to Symbian to the MeeGo team I'm quite sure it'll be perfectly competitive OS like iOS & Android.

I won't say Bada as bad OS.It's still have neat features & Samsung is committed to improve the OS.Also there a number of developers showing interest on Bada.So I think bada will improve in term of OS market share & quality (hardware & software wise)

I still remember how crippled Android was during version 1.6.
Give any of OS a chance to do what it's promised. Then we'll judge it.
Personally for me number off apps doesn't represent how good the OS it.
Perfect example for this case is webOS.

Marketshare is not an indicator whether the OS is actually good. Nokia Symbian share is helped by the abundance of cheapo Symbian phones. I think with the exception of my wife who is using my N8, who else in my factory is using them? Banglas, Myanmar and Nepalese. LOL... does apps matters? NO!!!

Then again, the same could be say for Android, whereas at least 10 owners (that I knew) who know nuts about pc nor smartphone buying it and only use it to Fb and web browsing. But the difference is that Android is pushing the boundaries while Symbian is kicking left leg with right leg.
*
Well,I can't comment on Symbian.Although I have used plenty of Symbian phone but never really own 1:lol:

Hmmm....
IMO Cydia is bit of mess.
Applications should be organized instead of just jumble everything together.

Is there any other video? This is quite messy like hell from what Im viewing.

Cydia is just the tool that enable jailbreak to break certain Apple restriction on iOS and access to other repository to install other app which get all the illegal stuffs done like Installous.
*
No idea why this guys App Manager is messed up.

In Maemo after you refresh your repos you get category menu 1st.Like Education,Navigation etc2.
From there you can choose any category you want & all the application will be displayed according to the alphabetical order.Once you choose any application you can check that particular applications description & changelog. If you want to download just press download.

It's quite simple actually.

Cydia doesn't jailbreak iOS.I think it's more like add in to download extra stuff not approved by Apple.

Well, he clicked ALL...

So thats it? Any user feedback or review posted? Any screenshot of the viewed app?

Actually, pardon me for saying this anyway, but since its free, why are they scattered around in different repositories?
Why not just all in one place?
*
No feedback.Usually we'll go to Maemo Talk to see application review.

Some 3rd party developers simply prefers to have their own repo.Easier to maintain I guess.
Opera,Mozilla all have their own repos.

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Sep 20 2011, 11:22 PM)
Yup. All the main features I want is available on the N9 out of the box. Except the flashplayer function, that super evil said they're working on it.
You have any idea if the Office application is Quickoffice or the PC Word,Excel, Powerpoint ?
*
No idea about this...

Update : So far no editing tool.Only viewing available.

lol, I don't really need apps that help accessing websites as long as the browser is usable (unless I want the content to be populated to the event/notification homescreen, of course), so the amount of apps that are available at OVI (Nokia?) store is good enough for me.

from what I know, there should be a way to install terminal app for N9 (which IMHO is kinda useless considering there's no hardware keyboard, for vimmer, just think how awkward it is to edit documents) and I guess there would be a way for me to connect to it via an SSH session or something for me to run scripts, set up cron (it is a device running linux after all) etc., which is very much good enough for me. As for gaming... erm, I guess I can live without it wink.gif
*
Bingo! And we have a winnner here!
Maemo 5 got couple of decent facebook client (fmobi, sociality) but majority of users keep going back to opening facebook with default browser. We do it because no matter how good an app is it cannot replace a proper site view.

N9 & N950's terminal is similar to N900's terminal (which x9000 better than any of android's terminal)
N9's terminal is quite usable but you just have to get used to the idea that vkb will block part of your terminal view.

lol, unless the web-app that one is visiting is too feature-rich like facebook (which itself is actually a platform that incorporates chat, status timeline, games etc.), but then for chatting part, I heard it is somehow possible to set up telepathy with N9 so that we can connect to facebook chat via xmpp?
*
Well,we can't test it unless we have N9 right?

If the social network integration is like Maemo, then yes, it's already integrated since very long ago; Hope it's better refined in MeeGo.

Call Nokia Malaysia boss & ask him to send you a N9 so you can test it tongue.gif
I know Nokia employees already got their N9 for quite some time already.

What Aegis?
*
Google it.
It's sort of new security implementation in MeeGo Harmattan.

QUOTE(Upsilon @ Sep 21 2011, 11:37 AM)
you are writing apps for N9? otherwise why bother about aegis?
*
For now no.
Aegis does not only cause trouble for developers.Even power users will be affected.
Heck for now it's hard even flash third party kernel.
Attempt to remove Aegis can brick N950.There was a way to bypass aegis by after latest update for N950 even that bypass method is not working.
javispedro found another way but he's waiting for clarification from Nokia before proceeding with it.
