okay...now im having 2nd thought about the maybank GIA...din maybank just close quite a number of branch?

The branches can be closed due to several reasons:

i) reducing operating profit, so close down some to cut losses

ii) advance in online banking, so close down branches to reduce overhead cost

And PIDM as said is just a peace of mind, but the potential gain is much higher compare to the maybank bankrupt as it is highly unlikely (Malaysia's biggest bank, if he bankrupt, most likely others won't survive either except a few)

Hi guys, just come to know about this account. Think of registering it in m2u and use for parking the money from basic account to get the daily interest.

Any opinion regarding this? Is the online transaction is purely unlimited and foc?

The GIA doesnt have the advantage of online transaction right, that why i thought of opting for this.

Where do you get the impression that the online transaction is foc? hmm.gif

The GIA is available in maybank2u as eGIA-i under fixed deposit section smile.gif

I mean from m2u basic saving acc, suppose to be foc between same bank right?
Well its good if GIA also in m2u, but registration cant do online, and need to maintain 1k vs 250 in isavers. Does GIA also give daily interest?

Any bank transfer within the bank is free laugh.gif

Yes, however GIA you can uplift everything, where as m2u saver you are tied with the minimum balance of 250 in that account

Moreover, m2u saver does not give interest below 2000 (same rate as bsa for the islamic m2u saver)

And yes, GIA interest is calculated daily, and when you uplift, it will give you the interest equals to the day you put in according to the monthly interest rate as quoted in their website

Noted there... ok u got my attention on that uplift thingy.. kindly explain. Is that mean no need to maintain 1000 at all times? So if can, does that low amount also entitled interest 4%?

Thanks in advance ☺

What I mean is that eGIA essentially function like FD placement, where you put a certain amount in a cert, then you can uplift anytime

You can greate multiple cert like FD, as long as each minimum with rm1000 (for 2 months and above)

But for eGIA, tenure doesnt matter, because no mater how long you put, once you decide to uplift, it will give you the interest according to the days you put, in another words, no interest penalty smile.gif

Ok got it... thanks.
Another thing i may ask, for daily interest calculation, are bank using 12am for the cut off time for the daily balance, or other time like working hours?
Anyone have idea about this.
*
For saving accounts, normally is 12am cut off time

However, eGIA similar to FD, will have operation hour of 6am to 10pm

Thanks.

But princinpa is not guaranteed...

no PIDM smile.gif

But higher interest rate compared to saving account and fd board rate smile.gif

Plus practically if Maybank collapse, PIDM can't even cover everyone's money sweat.gif

Still GIA, being an islamic investment with bring very low risk, no PIDM due to categorization smile.gif

Most of us here treat it as saving account and temporary parking facility before moving to good promo fd rate, better investment opportunity, even just emergency parking will do biggrin.gif
