I am interested too of this new Spy Pen Camera design.

Actually this new version of the Keycam #18 can be configured via GUI software to only record sound.

I was dreaming of purchasing the True HD 720p Spy Pen with AV video out function... until I saw this review... then again...

Well I am still happy having purchase two units of the new version Key Chain Cam 808 #18 which have all the features...

But the Spy Pen does not have 30% features which I don't think is useful since we would be using it as a spy pen function... well check it out...

Download this EzConfiguration18 software to use it to configure the PenCam 808 #18 as it uses the same chipset as KeyCam 808 #18 as all the features is available including setting the time and date stamping...

This definitely confirms that PingPong is selling the high end latest version of "Spy PenCam 808 #18" 4GB HD 720p with TV output version.

I got a good after sales product support from PingPong...


Regarding a issue with my Pencam shutting down after 90 seconds during file transfer to my pc... The temporary solution is simple... just disable the "Auto Shut Off"

I tested on the KeyCam 808 #18 when copying files to the computer it does not shuts off after 90 seconds but remain ON as long as the USB cable is supplying power to the Key Camera... strange comparison...

I hope the manufacturer could come up with a firmware fix for this as it is proven a bugs in the firmware...

Here is a bug in the Pen Cam 808 HD 720p... :-(


I just did a test for two conditions...

1. PenCam test direct shutdown by pressing the button for 10seconds.
2. PenCam test short press the button to stop recording first then long press 10 seconds to shutdown the pen camera.

So, in this two situation a 5K file is created regardless both conditions of shutdown a 5K corrupted AVI file is created as the last file numbering.
See what the manufacturer says about this error and how to fix it?

I did as the test as you mention with still same results... no difference... I still notice it happen again every time I long press the button to switch off the camera... this extra 5K corrupted AVI file will be created... ;-(

Correction.... only this file TIMESET.txt date and time format setup... works on this SpyPen Cam... not the EZ Configuration file format for the date and time is incorrect all the time... found out the hard way... ;-O


Using the Nr18Setup.exe program to configure the camera... This is the PenCam configuration software...
