Recently, i have a problem with bed bugs, i have try any methods to get rid of bugs but it seems to be not effective;

Tested Method

i) Expose mattress, pillows to the sunlight
-once exposed, the bed bugs will run to unexposed side of mattress and pillows, very clever

ii) Aerosol (Ridsect,Baygon,Shieldtox)
-You have to spray DIRECTLY on the bugs in order to kill,if not, then it would run away and come back to you later

iii) Pesticides (Malathion)
- Malathion can make bugs get out from hideout (more effective than aerosol) and kill the bed bugs, however the terrible smell of malathion make me dizzy and it is not good for indoor use.

iv) Throw away the infested mattress
- can i have other solution than this? i'm not donald trump,

Untested Method

i) Alcohol
Sprinkle a ratio of 1:1 with water would kill bugs instantly,i'm not sure about that

ii)Dust
They say that using DE(i dont remember its full name) can make bugs dehydrated and die

iii)Silica gel
same as above

any suggestion would be welcomed

to throw away the infested mattress and pillows,it is quite costly, unless it is heavily infested then i would throw away the mattress and pillow

(p/s; i hate bed bugs, once i feel itchy, it already gone)

Are *ALL* the bed bugs on the mattress? If some are hiding in cracks on the bed, pillows, cupboard, etc, then when you get a new mattress, it will reinfect.

Some mattress have a lot of places for bed bugs to hide in. Buy some cheap cloth, sew a large "cover" for the entire mattress. Make sure the stitch distance on the sewing machine is set small enough that the bed bugs cannot crawl through. Sew the thing shut so any bed bugs inside cannot get out to bite you. With this cover, it will be easier to see bed bugs on the outside. You can just use a vacuum.

nope, some of bed bugs hide in cracks on cushion, for what i can see its hideouts always near to where i sleep, if i change my sleep place then it follows,

(it's remind me of Red Alert 2, where you can move your primary construction, but i can't use nuclear on bugs)

anyway,thanks for the idea.....

(p/s: i heard somebody said that once the bed bugs here,it will stay forever.......oh god...help me)

How about you sleep on the other side of the room tomorrow night. But you lay down a line of glue traps from one side of the room to the other.

When I was a kid, we had bed bugs. Fortunately for us, that was just a short time before we moved to KL. I guess mom did a good job cleaning before the move. They didn't follow us though we took all the furniture and mattress with us.

Natural Bed Bug Control

Bed Bug Spray Recipe

1 Cup Water
10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
3 drops essential oil of clove (optional)

Place in a fine mist spray bottle, and shake well before using.

I want to include some cautions here. Never work with essential oils unless you are wearing gloves. Undiluted essential oils can be dangerous if absorbed through the skin. Another possible problem is that essential oils, even diluted, can have an adverse effect on some cats, so keep kitty away.

You could try out this recipe if you want.
