Hi,

I would like to know whether first grade floor tiles also have defects? I received few pieces of first grade floor tiles (2' x 2') with a hole near the centre..

The story is like that....Yesterday, my contractor used the tiles to do my counter top..When he did until halfway, he found out that 2-3 pieces of the tiles has a hole near the centre..He thought I bought the second grade floor tiles and didn't inform me about that..So, he just continue doing..

Today morning when I met him, he then informed that problem to me..I am shocked..I thought first grade tiles should be perfect..Why got holes?

So, I would like to know whether first grade floor tiles also have defects?

thanks~

Was in the construction industry b4.

1st grade means 1st grade, very small minor defect not easily seen by our eyes is ok , but holes ( rclxub.gif rclxub.gif ) are no no.

You are probably short changed either by the contractor or the tile supplier.

The marking for reject is not shown on the tile, it is normally on the packing boxes. If no reject marking, it can only mean somebody change the box with intend to cheat.

I bought from a 'famous' shop at Serdang..near new Public bank..Price is very cheap...cheaper than Super Ceramic..I forgot the english name..but the chinese name is 千叶..

When I visit the shop and ask the boss (a man), ask him whether gave wrong tiles to me...ask him whether is second grade...He insists is first grade..i show him the tiles with a hole, he angry and scold me with rude words, say I am finding trouble with him in early morning...He say you already cut and use why want to find trouble...I can't even speak nicely to him while he keeps scold me with all the rude words...I just want to know why got holes and not even want him to change for me..I paid for first grade tiles, of course want to know what happen..but he seems like don't want to take responsible and don't want to explain..I just want to make sure he don't curi-curi give me second grade tiles because I don't like second grade tiles..

I bought RM10k tiles there but the service i received is like that? What can I do? I feel very frustrated...Actually I can forget it (because i just found 2 pieces of tiles with hole) but I don't like his attitude and can't accept that..

been used means already cut by my contractor..u read my first post...my contractor don't know mah..he though i bought second grade tiles...so he cut out those part got hole..don't use it..normally the practise is like that, if u buy second grade tiles, if got defects, the contractor will cut out...so, i only show him the part with hole...

Sorry, my bad.
Is the hole very big? How could you contractor didn't check with you before process the rest?
So far only happen on those or other type of tiles as well?
You may want to ask you contractors take note and if find any, dont cut it and just bring back to the boss and see what he said....
Guess this is what you could do at this point.

contractor didn't check one piece by one piece...he only take the tiles and do..so many tiles, how to check one by one? and the contractor too 'clever', he thought I am using second grade tiles...

So, I already told the contractor, I only will buy first grade tiles..if got holes again, don't use...

I am frustrated...I am customer, he scold me with rude words...

So, first grade tiles sure wont have small holes on the surface of tiles?

Could it be manufacturing defect? Its hard to determine if its first grade or not when it comes in bulk. However, you could refer to the shop where you bought your stock.

some dealer can supply u the 2nd grade tiles and request the warehouse print 1st grade on the box/cartoon brows.gif brows.gif

some tile have minor defects (ie tiny black dots on the tiles, big quantities) but the squareness/ perpendicular/ flatness all meet the 1st grade requirement, contractor likes this type of tiles, 1st grade but price @ 2nd grade whistling.gif

rule of trump.... DO NOT lay defects tiles if u want to claim/ return/ exchange, this is one of their terms printed on the box
