QUOTE(Astroboy22 @ Dec 14 2012, 09:49 PM) okay. since you've got quite a collection, what do you think of Dior Homme Intense? does it gives out a really feminine vibe? I only sampled it out. have yet to purchase it to test it out in the long run. short run test : smells like a feminine perfume with that vanilla scheme going on.yet, on YouTube, it is so hyped out as being 'sexy' and most suitable for dating. I just don't get it |

QUOTE(Astroboy22 @ Dec 14 2012, 10:20 PM) ShinKen, i think dior homme intense can't be categorize as sexy... on me it's rather powdery... not like the female type of powder but it's like woody powdery... well, what i can say that different ppl have different chemistry and projects the fragrance differently.. on me... never sexy cos i dont associate powdery with sexy yupppp. it came to me as powdery as well. I guess, my nose wasn't wrong then. hehe. |

QUOTE(bugb34r @ Dec 15 2012, 02:10 PM) true. but if we wore it on a date, the climate usually would not be an issue as dating most of the time (not all the time) takes place at night or in shopping malls where climate is much of a big factor to not go with winter/ cold climate scents. just my perspective though |

QUOTE(fat_lip2525 @ Dec 16 2012, 06:20 PM) On the topic of DHI, where can I get it, and what is the price? I don't really see it anywhere.. Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough haha LOL. Dior Homme Intenese is found everywhere here in Malaysia. lucky for us but I would suggest you to buy them from Departmental Stores counters as you can try your luck on free samples. if you can't get the samples, get the girl! |

I LOVE SUNDAYS! everywhere is so crowded so I took the opportunity to sneak my way to Sephora and gave 4 fragrances a try.
Paco Rabanne : Black XS John Varvatos : Vintage Dior : Homme Intense Givenchy : Play Intense from this list, you can already tell I'm looking for a night-out or dating scent. a loud one. hehe. minus John Varvatos's Vintage. I lOVED Paco Rabanne's 1 Million. but when I sniffed out Black XS, I hated it (sorry fans. but I have to be as harsh as the perfume was to my taste). both 1 Million & Black XS gave out a loud synthetic smelling vibe. but, I LOVED 1 Million yet I HATED Black XS. big time. Black XS smells so strawberry-ish like a strawberry flavoured bubble gum chewed in a mouth then spat out. and yeah. haha. even after 8 hours, it still smells like that plasticky strawberry. yucks! my strawberry body wash from BodyShop smells better. I am only 19 years old, yet I can't take this fragrances. sigh. John Varvatos's Vintage is love Givenchy Play Intense. oh boy. I think its opening was somewhat fruity or citrus. I wasn't sure. but just give the opening about 20 minutes or so then it came out creamy but with added a soft touch of spice. damn nice! i read the back of the tester bottle. says tonka is in there. however the tonka is different that I get from Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and Thierry Mugler's A*Men. but then, I tested Dior Homme Intense...........(for the 2nd time to try to get kelthuzad's point on it being sexy) This post has been edited by ShinKen: Dec 17 2012, 12:17 AM |

and.......kelthuzad was right! Dior Homme Intense is sexy. from a certain point of view, it is. haha. it's got DNA from Dior Homme (known as makeup juice in a bottle) with added a heavy dosage of vanilla. that is what I detected. so, it's is sorta unique and sophisticated where is smells like a women's fragrance due to the vanilla yet it smells it was made for man as the DNA from Dior Homme was pretty dominating. it's like Dior Homme is having a world war with vanilla. both trying to get the centre stage! hahahaha
both Dior Homme Intense and Givenchy Play Intense are marathon trolls in longevity. but what was weird to me is that, Dior Homme Intense's soft powdery scent gave out a greater projection that Givenchy Play Intense's creamy-spice did. oh well. both last good for more than 8 hours. presentation wise, Dior Homme Intense gets the throne. I remember going shopping with my mom (she got me a bottle last time but it wasn't from Dior) and she said "wow! why does the bottle look so sexy compared to the others (referring to Guerlain's Homme EDP, Paco Rabanne's 1 Million, Channel Allures) that you showed me? " haha. Givenchy Play Intense's presentation just does not look classy and sexy as Dior's bottle do. looks kidstuff lol. I am now starting to appreciate the fragrances by Dior. slowly. presentation is sexy. juice is fantastic (referring to Homme line and Fahrenheit). |

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 16 2012, 09:15 PM) I tried out EDT Pour Homme. okay. neither love nor hate. then I sniffed out Eau des Baux. my God! it was LOVE!!!!!!!! they say it smells like Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. I cannot justify that as I have not snif out Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille as my wallet restricts it really nice. people like me who enjoys Thierry Mugler's A*Men, Dior Homme Intense, Givenchy Pi, Channel Allure Homme and Burberry London will LOVE this Eau des Baux by L'Occitane en Provence by a sniff. love at first sniff for me! and I know I will never get bored with the vibe it gives out Added on December 17, 2012, 12:41 am QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 16 2012, 02:39 PM) DHI is my fav dating scent, one spray for work, three for dating... it does smell like lipstick and kind of powdery. boss, mind giving a review on Bleu De Chanel? I heard it last long for a safe scent kinda stuff. do give us (or at least me) your take on that fragance. For DHI, i will apply like half an hour before i go out, let the opening pass... it is so sexy.. gotten compliments from straight guy colleuges before DHI is those scent that if u dont it, it doest like u too kind of type haha... SPM-leavers u have better luck with one million, no offence... DHI is just too sophisticated for them to really appreciate it Gotten myself a Bleu De Chanel, and Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche... love the citrus note and suitable to rotate as my working scent. Now comparing between Bylgari Extreme, Clinique Happy for Men for daytime, Malaysia weather really harsh on powdery scent. many thanks! This post has been edited by ShinKen: Dec 17 2012, 12:41 AM |

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 17 2012, 07:33 AM) YES YOU CAN "it's a men's fragrance." tell the S.A that. my S.A had a hard time locating it for me. but since there were only 2 fragrances which were EDT Pour Homme and Eau des Baux and Eau des Baux is the one that is not in blue bottled, only then did the S.A found it. haha Added on December 17, 2012, 3:13 pm QUOTE(fat_lip2525 @ Dec 17 2012, 01:51 PM) Thanks for the tips KLCC. my second house Shinken, which sephora did you get to test it out? Added on December 17, 2012, 3:24 pm QUOTE(kelthuzad @ Dec 17 2012, 01:14 AM) bro you writing karangan on fragrance uh?givenchy play intense is one of my fav gourmand, the opening has bergamot, but i cannot detect it or any citrus scent, all i get is nice coffee and tonka bean and patchouli, usually when a gourmand has patchouli in it,it will be good.the bottle looks stupid indeed, and yeah DHI does projects much better than play intense, the vanilla just keeps on oozing out, really addictive.you cant go wrong with any of these 2,girls will dig them, most importantly i like both a lot.some people may not like or even hate(just like how many of the members dislike it) the lipstick, makeup opening of DHI or dior homme, and walk away after that, thats what makes me happy, its so that not many people will wear it thus makes it special.you should try fahrenheit absolute too if you want something dark, very dark, marc the youtube reviewer said its suitable to wear it to funeral cause its so dark, but i am loving it,but dont wear it in the day and hot places when you mention funeral, I'd only wear Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme Intense to a funeral. don't know why. I just feel like it. john varvatos' line is well known for its weak longevity,so i dont really bother that line of fragrance yes,eau des baux is really good,in fact i think its the best from l'occitane,i tried not to mention it earlier as again,i dont want many people to wear it,but since you mentioned it,i will just second it. what is gourmand? and how do you differentiate coffee and tonka? fahrenheit absolute? sure! I definitely might. in 2013. ending with 2012 with something DHI-ish. yeah, I did hear John Varvotos's longevity is an issue from the FraggComm. but JV Vintage last 8 hours ++ on my skin. however, it was very very close to the skin though. nice replacement for L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme and Lalique White. haha. sorry man. but Eau des Baux is really good AND AFFORDABLY PRICED This post has been edited by ShinKen: Dec 17 2012, 03:24 PM |

Added on December 20, 2012, 5:01 pm QUOTE(ziafang @ Dec 20 2012, 06:59 AM) Hi kelthuzad, thanks for the input bro! I am 24 years old, just graduated and looking for a job right now. I am planning to get a perfume for casual purposes first as I go out quite often. I am thinking of getting another one for work later on, expanding the collection. I still need you and other sifu's guidance here on how to pick and choose perfumes for these purposes. I know you ask kelthuzad. but if you ask me, I would suggest you to start off with John Varvatos's Vintage. hard to describe why. haha. sorry.Hi edwardleong, Thanks for the input bro. I will go sniff out the following and see whether I like it or not. if you're wondering about longevity (because a big majority of people who just started out on fragrance would ask "is it long lasting?" hahaha), it got more than an 8 hours. but it was sorta close to the skin.
