QUOTE(ShinKen @ Dec 17 2012, 12:16 AM) I LOVE SUNDAYS! everywhere is so crowded so I took the opportunity to sneak my way to Sephora and gave 4 fragrances a try. bro you writing karangan on fragrance uh?givenchy play intense is one of my fav gourmand, the opening has bergamot, but i cannot detect it or any citrus scent, all i get is nice coffee and tonka bean and patchouli, usually when a gourmand has patchouli in it,it will be good.the bottle looks stupid indeed, and yeah DHI does projects much better than play intense, the vanilla just keeps on oozing out, really addictive.you cant go wrong with any of these 2,girls will dig them, most importantly i like both a lot.some people may not like or even hate(just like how many of the members dislike it) the lipstick, makeup opening of DHI or dior homme, and walk away after that, thats what makes me happy, its so that not many people will wear it thus makes it special.you should try fahrenheit absolute too if you want something dark, very dark, marc the youtube reviewer said its suitable to wear it to funeral cause its so dark, but i am loving it,but dont wear it in the day and hot placesPaco Rabanne : Black XS John Varvatos : Vintage Dior : Homme Intense Givenchy : Play Intense from this list, you can already tell I'm looking for a night-out or dating scent. a loud one. hehe. minus John Varvatos's Vintage. I lOVED Paco Rabanne's 1 Million. but when I sniffed out Black XS, I hated it (sorry fans. but I have to be as harsh as the perfume was to my taste). both 1 Million & Black XS gave out a loud synthetic smelling vibe. but, I LOVED 1 Million yet I HATED Black XS. big time. Black XS smells so strawberry-ish like a strawberry flavoured bubble gum chewed in a mouth then spat out. and yeah. haha. even after 8 hours, it still smells like that plasticky strawberry. yucks! my strawberry body wash from BodyShop smells better. I am only 19 years old, yet I can't take this fragrances. sigh. John Varvatos's Vintage is love Givenchy Play Intense. oh boy. I think its opening was somewhat fruity or citrus. I wasn't sure. but just give the opening about 20 minutes or so then it came out creamy but with added a soft touch of spice. damn nice! i read the back of the tester bottle. says tonka is in there. however the tonka is different that I get from Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and Thierry Mugler's A*Men. but then, I tested Dior Homme Intense...........(for the 2nd time to try to get kelthuzad's point on it being sexy) john varvatos' line is well known for its weak longevity,so i dont really bother that line of fragrance yes,eau des baux is really good,in fact i think its the best from l'occitane,i tried not to mention it earlier as again,i dont want many people to wear it,but since you mentioned it,i will just second it. |

QUOTE(Astroboy22 @ Dec 17 2012, 01:15 PM) i tried aventus yesterday, very smoky, really like it,but the pineapple is very secondary.projects really well though.today i tried millesime imperial, this is clubbing scent for sure, but a classy clubbing scent, not 1 million or paco rabanne type but its definitely clubbing scent, quite nice.tomorrow will try himalaya or original santal Added on December 17, 2012, 8:19 pm QUOTE(ShinKen @ Dec 17 2012, 03:13 PM) when you mention funeral, I'd only wear Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme Intense to a funeral. don't know why. I just feel like it. what is gourmand? and how do you differentiate coffee and tonka? fahrenheit absolute? sure! I definitely might. in 2013. ending with 2012 with something DHI-ish. yeah, I did hear John Varvotos's longevity is an issue from the FraggComm. but JV Vintage last 8 hours ++ on my skin. however, it was very very close to the skin though. nice replacement for L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme and Lalique White. gourmand means frag with notes of food.coffee is as u know, coffee scent, but tonka beans are more bittersweet, smell a lil deeper than coffee note, tonka beans will make you feel warmer. nvr tried JV vintage before,so dont really know bout its longevity nor how it smells like This post has been edited by kelthuzad: Dec 17 2012, 08:19 PM |

QUOTE(wazzapp @ Dec 17 2012, 09:37 PM) if u like imperial, just get sean john unforgivable. practically proven by me. yea sean diddy likes imperial too much that he copied imperial into unforgivable.problem with unforgivable is its longevity,i cant see myself paying an overpriced celebrity frag with really weak longevity.millesime has decent longevityi wear it n went to see someone who wear imperial, then he asked, "u wear imperial too?" |

QUOTE(Astroboy22 @ Dec 17 2012, 10:21 PM) Hello Kelthuzad, Thank you for sharing.. I am going to get a few from the house of creed next month why not you let me know which one should i test after santal?i have royal oud, green irish tweed(similar to cool water, very)himalaya, and tabarome.i have tested silver mountain water last month,so i can let u know how it smells like, its soft,a lil warm,it really reminds you a bit of a snowy mountain, soft but very nicely done, doesnt shout but classy.i think if you wear this into a meeting room, ppl will look at you.and by saying soft,it has decent longevity.currently out of them all, aventus is my number 1Added on December 18, 2012, 12:23 am QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Dec 18 2012, 12:21 AM) Apparently the price of Maison Francis Kurkdjian in Malaysia has been reduced after taking over by a new distributor. The store now is in KLCC, sharing the same counter as Annick Goutal, Penhaligon's, Diptyque and Bond No. 9. wow nice stuff you got there, mind describing how they smell like? However it will be changing owner again in Jan 2013. It is a lost making business in Malaysia. MFK in Malaysia is about 10% cheaper than in Hong Kong. The Aqua Universalis is for yours truly whilst the newly released Amyris is for my lovely wife: ![]() ![]() Monocle Scent One: Hinoki that I procured whilst I was in Hong Kong. QUOTE(wazzapp @ Dec 18 2012, 03:35 AM) lucky you bro...i really like that scent,i only wish i can have at least 6 hours.by the way theres a new version of it right?its unfogivable multi platinum,in white frosted bottle, they said its better than unforgivable,no luck in trying that thoughAdded on December 18, 2012, 9:21 pm QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 18 2012, 02:30 PM) and also most fragrances from this house smell natural, their ingredients are mostly natural stuffs.btw bro astroboy, tried original santal today.it really smells like montblanc individuelle,i have a bottle of individuelle already, and i like it,but dont see myself buying 100ml of original santal since i have individuelle, very similar.its sweet, candy sweet, can get cloying if apply too much, this one is the 'less is more' type.but the basenote is a lil different than individuelle, individuelle stays almost the same throughout, but original santal's basenote is better This post has been edited by kelthuzad: Dec 18 2012, 09:21 PM |

QUOTE(ziafang @ Dec 19 2012, 10:49 PM) Hi everyone, burberry brit is a good scent in my opinion,i like it and have a bottle of that.let us know how old are you, only for casual??not for work??all that does affect what fragrance to wear.i even have my sunny days and rainy days group of fragrancesI was out at the mall looking around for a perfume for everyday casual use and the girl promoter there recommended Burberry Brit Men for me after hearing that I use Calvin Klein Eternity (not the Aqua version) previously for my casual perfume. How do you guys think about it? I am open to any input and suggestions from you all sifus here before I pull the trigger as I am new to perfume here, being only owned a bottle of CK Eternity before, which is an unwanted gift from the family. |

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 20 2012, 06:19 AM) the sample so nice..... The only juice I have from Hermes is Terre d'Hermes... It is my signature office scent if I got important meeting to attend. yea its really nice packaging, thats what made us collectors happy about collecting them.i like terre d'hermes too, prefer the edt version than the pure parfum.Added on December 20, 2012, 6:22 am Yea Brit is solid and do smell good London is unique, but cant find many occasion for me to wear it though.brit is more versatile,so if looking for everyday casual, brit should be the choice. Added on December 20, 2012, 5:37 pm QUOTE(ziafang @ Dec 20 2012, 06:59 AM) Hi kelthuzad, thanks for the input bro! I am 24 years old, just graduated and looking for a job right now. I am planning to get a perfume for casual purposes first as I go out quite often. I am thinking of getting another one for work later on, expanding the collection. I still need you and other sifu's guidance here on how to pick and choose perfumes for these purposes. i dunno what job you are in later on,but just a word of caution, some bosses or your seniors may not like loud and offensive fragrance,so to be safe, just get some safe scent 1st when you start to work, only when you are closer with them then you gradually try something more challenging, thats what i learned for some basic office etiquette.for casual, this is the only recommendation, buy anything that you like!!!go out and try it,no point getting something we tell you but you dont really like it,cheap and not heard before brands doesnt mean its bad,you might be able to find some gems from cheapies,i found few.i like fragrances because of the discovery, trying out new stuffsAdded on December 20, 2012, 5:44 pm QUOTE(killdavid @ Dec 20 2012, 10:59 AM) Burberry Brit is a really nice spicy floral. I just love rose note in a men's fragrance. hmm kenzo power isnt really power as in burst in your face kind of power, its actually lovely and pleasant,it starts off citrusy, due to bergamot, with lil hint of floral.starts off a bit feminine but the end is masculine, woody.actually this can be the ultimate unisex fragrance.hmm i dont get the rose note though, you sure rose is in it??a lot of flower, but not feminine, its woody and spice from the middle and onwards.its sexy in a pleasant wayBro, can you elaborate on Kenzo power ? I see there is a rose note in it to. Is it noticebale ? How does it smell ? This post has been edited by kelthuzad: Dec 20 2012, 05:44 PM |
