I notice in youtube, the vids can be downloaded in .flv or .mp4 format. Which is better quality?

FLV - 854 x 480
MP4 - 480 x 360

So, which one should I go for?

for that file, then the flv version is better (for the dimension, dont know about the file size though)

but usually i opt for the mp4 version as i can play it in any media player~

I'd go with the MP4, mainly because you can use it on MP3 players and play it in most programs.

I would prefer mp4, better compatibility.
In your case the FLV file may have higher resolution which might means better quality.
For audio checking, download the file, go to properties and check the audio bitrates.

FLV and MP4 both are multimedia container format.

Since both container, you can "decontain" it (actually demux is the right term).

Audio quality ? Depend on which audio they contain. FLV mostly contain AAC.

Sometime I do demux FLV and mux back to MP4, for playbility (as per Bremaine post before).

flv requires special players while MP4 can be played in most media players, in your case, it's obvious that the FLV is better in terms of resolution, but not in terms of video file size and audio quality

Goes with 480P/720P/1080P MP4 if possible.

normally mp4 would be high quality. but then again u need to also look at the resolution, like 1280x720 is 720p.. the higher the resolutions, the more better quality it is

i just use the firefox add on for those dloading from utube task

yup,, if downloading from youtube use these if possible.....

the answer is obvious, flv..but mp4 size is smaller than flv..

is there's any FLV - MP4 converter?
