QUOTE(fleur_cherie @ Apr 17 2021, 09:02 AM) The herringbone installation requires skills and time. It is not left over. For the backsplash area only, contractor can demand thousands. ๐ In China it is almost std practise to use spacers for tiling. However in here its hard to get a tiler that uses them. https://www.facebook.com/videohddailly/vide...29678988240604/ She uses spacers, back buttering. If its a small area u can DIY geh. PVA adhesive sikalatex comes in 4L tubs. Cutting the tiles will need a marble/tile cutter. Manual one also about 100 bucks, power tool 80-100 or closer to 200 for stanley, makita. This post has been edited by ceo684: Apr 17 2021, 11:31 AM |

and itโs 12ft kitchen cabinet. Yes the sika premixed tile adhesive (that 25kg bag) just add water will work pretty well. The sika premix tile adhesive is a ready mix of cement and other modifiers inside, its easier to just add water to it P.S. Don't add PVA to the premixed stuff (apologies); i confused PVA with latex adhesive. I read PVA may mess with the pH coz it produces acetic acid which is the other way (cement needs alkaline env to bond and harden). Its own Sikalatex (as mentioned on the 25kg bag) should be safe. P.P.S. PVA glue and latex glue looks the same but are 2 diff things. fleur_cherie liked this post

QUOTE(daniellehu @ Feb 5 2021, 12:29 AM) I recently had my father's 51 years old house renovated in Cheras. It is not a lavish type of renovation but just to provide a breath of fresh air into the house. After going through a pain staking survey on the work quality and corresponding prices from various renovation contractors, we have finally decided to engage one in the 2nd week of December. Hi, The main reason why I have chosen this contractor is plainly because he is extremely patience attending to all of my questions especially when I am not an expert in this field while trying to understand how things work, the schedule of his refurbishment work, the type of materials that he is using and etc. Believed me, even my husband "beh tahan" me with all the questions at times. As I am no longer staying with my parents, he took the liberty to sent me the progress photos on a daily basis. The depth of the foundation, the size of the steel bar used, the tiles installation work where all wall tiles are pre soaked (with video showing bubbles emerging from the tiles, omg!) He is very accommodating especially when I have made certain last minute changes also he is alright with it. The electrical cables used for our entire house is also a branded one according to him. I was told that the wires can last for at least a good 15 to 20 years time and the brand is either Maga or Mega, I cant quite remember. He took a lot of photos on the wire used, displaying the brand printed on the wire prior to burying them into the wall in pvc conduit. Since the wall is old, there are aging plaster, peeled of paint and also uneven surfaces. These are carefully attended, replastered and painted. The wooden door jam and wood made louvered windows have also been removed, making way for the new door and alum windows. The mold on external wall are being washed using water jet (this was shown in video too, knowing me There was a delay in their work due to the recent MCO lockdown but our contractor made their way back and continue with their work in mere one week after the lockdown. They managed to secure their work approval and assuring us he is able to complete his job before CNY. Finally, he managed to complete his work on last Friday. The whole house has been thoroughly washed and cleaned. I am very satisfied and happy with his work. Overall, he is a responsible & committed contractor. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested, especially to those who has very little idea of what renovation is all about. May I have your contractor number please? My thank in advance! |

QUOTE(dannykhoo1 @ Sep 19 2019, 10:14 PM) I just did my SOHO unit and I am very satisfied with Mr. Sam's services. Hence promised him to return him a favor by posting here. hi hi,mind to share Mr Sam's contact? thanks in advanceHe is friendly, and always listen and meet my needs. Although i'm a bit fussy when it comes down to details, he always there to solve my problems. I am surprised that he is also an interior designer. Ideas he has given to me are mush more practical and stylish. For my Soho, I has a wall full with air-con, window access to air-con compressor, TV area, and he manage to hide all the mess with beautiful design with functional cabinet. The carpentry workmanship is good, and they will go all the way for perfection, even a minor crack on the edge, they will just change and replace whole laminates for me. The outcome of the actual carpentry is almost 90% close to the 3D I get initially. However he bit late on delivery, I'm not too sure is it my fault that i keep ask him to change things around, but ultimately i'm happy with his service, his price isn't too expensive compare to a few contractor/ID that i ask for quotes. Will definitely work with him again in my future house. |
